Lets see yer cup holders!
Inspired by Kustombrad's Project "49 No Buck$" amazingly functional and cheap arm rest/cup holder mod.
Lets see what everyone else has come up with to hold their tasty beverages. I need a place to put my coffee, but I'm not sold on any of my ideas. So sound off!:mm: |
Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
Ugly but free and it took ten minutes to make one day after I got tired of my coffee tipping over. The leg at the back is because the cupholder tipped over with a full cup of coffee in it. The holder sits beside the floorshift (Hurst type in front of the seat) with the leg running across behind the shifter. Not fancy but one of a similar design could be built out of nicer wood and finished off to look pretty good.
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...p/DSCN9167.jpg The good thing is that if I need the leg room for someone in the middle it lifts out and goes in the back and done. |

Nothin fancy, just a plastic tray from Wally World, about 5 bucks, someplace to set my coffee cup and some tape and a few tools. Fits in between the bucket seats, good for now.

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
I'm going to have to put the photos of Orrie's setup in my idea file. I could make that work on my 71 real easy. It has a plastic one that slides all over the place now.

I like his idea also - thinking of using some old Penn 500 drag washers to keep it snug and smooth open and shut. Plenty of under dash space in the '51... |

Those round ones like highsider showed work pretty well and can bail you out of situations too.

This one was originally intended to slide into an ashtray location, removed the flat piece, screwed it to the floor.
I've also used an old soup can with a large round magnet bolted to the bottom. |

Nice fellas! There are some gems in here. Some just hilarious.
I'm really digging the swing out OrrieG idea. I just might have to go that route. |

Mine are cinch rings from a tack shop. Got the big washers from local Tacoma Screw.

As a Calif. General Contractor, I know what it is, and a little tongueincheek levity is better - but that being said - http://www.duckbrand.com/products/re...rade-duck-tape it's out there and they sellit... |
Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
This is not my truck but the cup holders looked cool.

The good duct tape has the ASTM standard listed on the inside of the roll and sticks like crazy, unlike the cheap stuff. Same with electrical tape (UL listed), and tie (bailing) wire. |

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
So I built this cup holder for a friend's 1985 Kennworth. It mounts by the passenger seat.

""duct tape: as for sealing air leaks in heating/cooling duct has been around for decades.
duck tape is a new redneck hillbilly brand that i will never buy because of it's silly name"" Not so new here in the Okie coast of Central CA - it's been around here for decades also - ever since some oky from Bakerfield mispronounced it - but it works as good as any 250 mph tape, it's just marketing. I think Ford is a silly name - it's a shallow place to cross a river .... |
Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
Wish I could claim this one as my truck but it isn't. This is the ICON Thriftmaster. I saw these cup holder and freaking fell in love! Apparently this are out of a Mercedes G-wagon according to his video. This is the BEST idea I have ever seen! The are minimal and flip down when you aren't using them! Awesome idea!

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
if they flip down when your not using them, wouldn't they flip down when you have something in them also. I would have thought they should flip up when your not using them.

Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
Jyman,
I don't believe so. If you think about it, even if they weren't strong enough to hold up the cup, as soon as it gave way the bottom of the cup would simply rest agains the kick panel (where these were located) and it would act as a cradle holding the cup in place. |
Re: Lets see yer cup holders!
Here's an entire world of cup holders, including that Mercedes G-Class net thingy...
