What engine am I working with here!?

1 Attachment(s)
Im having a hell of a time finding figuring out what exactly im working with here. Ive checked all over the forums and i keep ending up at broken links and expired websites. The number on the back side of the block is 3970010 so Ive gathered its a 350, as it should be. I was told this motor is a 350 bored .040 over out of a 72 C10. The motor is stripped down and sitting on an engine stand right now so if theres any other numbers i need to find that would help identify let me know.

I see 3 different numbers there
1st) V0830TBM
2ND) 7398
3RD)C97106606

A good source for the information you are looking for is www.nastyz28.com
He shows that you have a 350 block, built in Flint, August 30, for a 69-79 car, truck or vette with either 2 or 4 bolt mains.

V=Flint
08=August
30= 30th day of month
TBM was used for three different engines/years.
1. year=1970 Size=307 1/2 ton trucks
2. year=1979 Size=350 3/4 to 1 ton trucks
3. year=1985 Size=305 1/2 to 3/4 ton trucks.

However, your block number indicates
1969-79 3970010 350, So with those two codes, you have a 1979 350 block.

Kinda iffy, but the only other thing you could refer to is the heads, and what they are, but chances are they could have been swapped at one point.

The other numbers on the engine pad, no clue other then maybe put there as part of a warranty exchange or record number by a machine shop?
