Public Nuisance
I'm a public nuisance. I just got a letter from the county saying so. So it must be true.
You may wonder how I achieved this John Dillinger status, well wonder no more because I'll tell you. Brace yourself. I put a floodlight on the side of my house. :ack: My angry mental patient neighbor complained to code enforcement about the light even though it doesn't shine past my property line. I made sure of that because I knew he would start trouble and I wasn't wrong. I don't know what this guys problem is. He just seems to hate me and I've never said a word to him. I don't even know his name. He's yelled at every contractor that has ever come in my yard but he'll never speak to me at all. I've called him out and he won't come out if his house. He just comes out and yells from a distance and runs back inside like a Cuckoo clock. He doesn't even have the guts to face me. So I wrote a nice letter to code enforcement telling them that my light was in compliance and to come inspect it anytime that they wanted. That should be that. Hopefully I'll get off the America's most wanted list. Now I just have to find my boombox and turn up the volume all the way and just leave it blasting 24 hours a day in my barn which is next to his house. The light shouldn't bother him then. ;) |

Some people just want to feel like a victim.

Re: Public Nuisance
Put up very noticeable (and some not obvious) cameras. You're likely in for a bumpy ride, buddy. I have a problem neighbor who cooled right down (except for the vicious gossip) when I put up visible cameras. Some people aren't happy unless they're mad about something. Maybe that "crazy lady" former owner had a reason, or was that a different property? It's tough keeping up with your gypsy ways. BTW, complaints to a government entity are a matter of public record, so you are entitled to find out who the complainant is.

Re: Public Nuisance
Maybe you can dress up as a Undercover Contractor;)
And Borrow their vehicle or ride in with one of your contractors?? Kinda like Under-Cover Boss show. Then Take Pictures of his (No So Smart) Actions. Then you can say (I am Your Huckelberry):ito::sumo: And have video of his Stupid Actions. |

Re: Public Nuisance
The boombox might be a good idea, from one minute after sound ordinance lifts in the morning to one minute before it commences in the evening. Let the neighbor become the public nuisance directly with local authorities by acting an inch within the regulations, which would be enough for him to register a complaint but not enough for enforcement.

Just my luck to move next to a fruitcake. The new fence to block him out is ordered and on its way. Big fence. 186 feet long. That's a lot of lumber and it wasn't cheap... Still worth it. |
Re: Public Nuisance
Can you target shoot on your property that will get his attention ;)

Well the voice of reason has spoken. (my wife ) She told me not to even engage with this nut. Just ignore him and wait for the fence. I think she's right. He want's attention. He is trying to get under my skin. She said not to give him the satisfaction. It will bother him more if I just ignore him like the useless little piece of trash that he is. I have no time for him. I have a life. He just sits in his crappy house and yells at everyone and no one. Pathetic.

Re: Public Nuisance
A friend has a neighbor like OP has. His dogs have bit folks who were in their own yards. Yes, the sheriff was called, reports taken, and not much else done. Said neighbor has put up bright lights that do shine into my friend's windows. Neighbor started cussing at my friend when my friend pointed a flashlight at the neighbor's house while looking for something outside. At least the dogs aren't running loose anymore.
Oh, did I mention the neighbor blaming all this on the people living under his house? (Single story house with a crawl space.) I am thinking the sheriff is trying to deal with this person as little as possible. If the sheriff arrests him, then the sheriff has to deal with it. |

50/50 chance he calms down once the fence goes up. He many not be a kook. Could be a whiz who orchestrated the whole thing to assure you hurry up and build a good fence. He's probably mad that you tore the other one down |
Re: Public Nuisance
Strong fences make good neighbors. Maybe have the installers paint his side a nice, restful color. Flames are a restful look, like looking at the firepit on a cold night.
