My good experince with nu-finish car polish.

Not trying to pimp out this product as much as im trying to encourage folks to get out there and try it out on their rigs. I used the stuff in the bottle. Its about $8.00 a bottle and will easily do two or three vehicles. Contrary to what the bottle says, there was a fair amount of rubbing and buffing involved. I think i would have been better off buffing with buffing compound first but i was able to get these results by just using the wax on-wax off tecnique with just two normal rags and the nu-finish. Like i said, lots of rubbing and lots of going over spots 3 or 4 times. But heres what it did for me.

Here is a little test spot of what got me encouraged.

Before,

After,

So with that, i was amped. So i did a whole half of the hood. In the dark... Well ok it was under the flood lights from the front of the garage.

Then i moved onto the fender,

Then i went back to the hood to do the rest of it.

Keep in mind that the hazy areas are not wax. Thats just how the truck looked after a good wash job. THe paint really was that hazy!

I've never been a fan of waxes or anything but that is a big difference. The middle strip really came out on that.

Supposedly the thing about this nu-finish is that its "not a wax". There web site said something like a cross linked zink polymer or some crazy thing. Im mostly curious at this point to see how long it holds up.

unless it has changed over the years, it wont last long. If you dont mind using it every few weeks its great. Its been around forever.

Re: My good experince with nu-finish car polish.

Thats what im curious about. It says its the "once a year car polish"... But i cant imagine that shine actually lasting a year. I had figured i would have to do it maybe every couple months. I dont need it to look good all the time, but its good to know that it can still look good. Now i just need a set of wheels and tires and i will be dialed in.

Re: My good experince with nu-finish car polish.

Now wax it. Your trucks paint got that way because it wasn't waxed and had no protection from the sun. Once it's waxed the paint will shine up a little more and stay cleaner longer.

My experiment with wax is that most will go about 2-2.5 weeks before a revolt is needed in summer and 3 weeks if it's good spendy wax.

You've got some great Squares! That looks pretty good :metal: Yesturday, I actually cleaned my BMW really good, the factory 1982 paint was in way, way worse shape than yours.... Now I've got to use some cleaner/wax to buff it out. Thanks for the inspiration ;)

Uber rough paint shop of how it will look with the new wheels and tires. And i really want to drop the rear an inch or two. It just has too much rake for me right now.

On another bit of good news, i was able to get the pioneer stereo that it came with working again! Bitter sweet as i already got the new radio. Oh well. Only $27 bucks... Im hoping to pick up some $15 speakers from walmart soon as these ones are uber toast. The driver side stil works but its 15 years of moisture exposure has done it no good. The passenger side only has the tweeter that works.

Actually, as it were, i ended up selling this one. Pretty much sick about it. But i did it because i bought a brand new 2012 GMC SLT 1500 crew cab 4x4!

I hope so too! I still REALLLY miss the 77. A lot! But the 12 is pretty much a thing a beauty. So it makes the pain hurt less.
