While i recommend pulling the bed, some have asked for measurements for a proper cut.

Pictures speak volumes

Regular Cab, short bed

cut 14" to 22" from driver side wall

Great info! Thanks!

While pulling the bed used to be no big deal, I don't have the room I used to when I was working in dad's shop. As long as one can fix the hole properly, this makes a job that once was a real chore a pretty easy process. I'm sure there are lots of other guys in the same boat I am with not much time, help, or room to pull a bed, but can cut a hole like nobody's business

Pull the bed? Drop the tank.

Re: S10 fuel pump cutout

My brain defaults to the bed, pulling those 6 bolts and wrangling a good helper always was my preferred method vs jacking up the truck, then half dropping a 100 pound tank full of gas after you broke the straps then fanagling the hoses and wires loose before you break something.

I'll never understand why more vehicles didn't come with the fuel pump access panel that some cars had under the rear seat.
