bolt in, takes a ram horn exhaust manifold. easier if you remove the perches from the frame and bolt them to the motor bofore installing.

Welcome to the forum!
Here's a link to how I did a 350 sbc swap in my 1960 GMC. The Chevy and GMC frames are the same 60-62, but the original engine mount towers are different between the makes: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=369663 |

The '67-'72 small block motor mount brackets will work quite well on the '60-'62's.

Re: how to install 350 chevy in 62 pickup
I know this is an old thread, but here goes....I have a 1962 c-10 w/ a sbc i'm trying to mount in. I made 1.250" spacers to go between the motor mount & the top of the frame rail to get the balancer off the center link, that's fine. My problem now is the lower part of the mounts no longer line up with the mounting holes in the crossmember...the motor mount holes are too far 'outboard' ,or towards the wheels. Do I have later (72' up) motor mounts? I need 67-72 correct? The ones in my truck look like 67-72....Thanks!
Edit: I am told this is a 400 ci sbc...though I haven't gone by the numbers on it yet ...my mounts look like the ones in the above pic. |
Re: how to install 350 chevy in 62 pickup
I put a 283 sbc in my 62 with 1/2" spacer on top..(this is on top of 83 crossmember w/disc brakes) ...1.250 seems kind of tall.

Re: how to install 350 chevy in 62 pickup
The usual height guys go with seems to be 1.0" for the spacer, but that was BARELY getting the balancer off the center link, so I went an extra .250"...Which looks good now, & since it's only a vertical adjustment, I can't figure why the hole alignment is off.
Previous owner had the motor mounts directly bolted to the frame & cut a large radial groove into the center link...I also noticed he had the passenger motor mount loose!?! which might mean he has alignment issues as well. Thanks for the reply! |

I also used 1/2" spacers. I plan on putting washers under the nuts, I just have them lightly tightened for now. http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...5/IMAG1516.jpg Posted via Mobile Device |
