OOOH. Not nice.

Is $1600 for a rebuilt unit or a new one? Maybe I shouldn't ask with the chip shortages piling up lately.

New ... but that is at the GMC Dealer - I may get a price at an independtent garage.

GMC told me the truck has good breaks and will work fine without ABS.

You can get damaged GM EBCMs repaired. I don't see why i you shouldn't be able to find a reliable outfit to reman the pumps if that half is fouled up.

I know you can get the ABS pumps rebuilt for cars like the V12 E31 BMWs. The T800 trucks are a lot more common.

if its not the pump unit and just the abs modulce on top of pump advance sells reman with lifetime warranty for like 250 buxs i did the deal where i sent mine and had rebuilt wiht new relays for 150 buxs and of corse it died again after 3 days after the 1 year warranty went out...

If it's loaded with mechanical relays then the re-builder really needs to find relays that are rated for the same or better cycle count and better current carrying capabilities.

Just spitballing... I wonder if they just replaced the failed relays and left the old but serviceable relays in place.

Yeaa typically all the fails is the control board on top of the ABS pump, Dorman makes a replacement, just hope that the torx screws that hold it on will come out. Also the air bag lights are usually an impact sensor on the core support, also a cheap easy fix, dorman also makes that.
