Holley 302-1 vs 302-2 (again)

Looking at put my order in for my pan. However, after reading every thread I can fond on these pans I am still alittle confused on which one works best. I like that the 302-2 has a higher capacity and provides more clearance up front. But I am worried that because the sump protrude 2+ inches farther forward it might interfere with the cardle/crossmember. I am pretty positive the 302-1 will clear the cradle/crossmemeber but hear there might be clearance with the cross link. And the slightly lower capacity is not ideal.

What have you guys seen when installing these pans?

I am running the Blackheart engine mounts with their LS adapted clamshell mounts.

I have the Blackheart Engine mounts and trans crossmember and I'm using the 302-2, fits great. I think the 302-1 would be too close

Perfect. That was the response I was looking for. Thanks for the input.

Since I'm cheap. I actually have this oil pan:
https://www.supershops.com/products/.../parts/SS11004

Holley owns the Super Shops name and this thing looks and works identical to the 302-2

It uses the LS3 dipstick, which I found the dorman part numbers for and bought those instead, since they cost less.

When I got my pan, it shipped to me from the same address as other Holley parts I have ordered.

I was just looking at the Super Shops instructions and this is what is says about dipstick:
LS Dipstick & Tube Kit – Holley P/N 302-15
• LS Dipstick – GM P/N 12634547
• LS Tube – GM P/N 12625031

DORMAN 921045 (921-045)
DORMAN 921044 (921-044)

Yeah, I have a feeling all the "knock off" pand are actually made by the same manufacture just with the holley name removed from the castings.

Thanks for posting those part numbers. I have been searching for those for a bit.

I started off with the 302-1 oil pan. It cleared my cross member, but hit my rack & pinion. I ended up going to the 302-2, with no problems at all.

As a former Holley Engineer until recently, I can verify that the knock-off Holley pans are not made from the same castings. Their geometric features are different in areas that make no usage difference in some applications (like the C10), and huge differences in others (GM A-body cars for example). The Supershops pan is sourced from the same factory as all the knock-off pans and Holley offers it to get their share of sales from the cheap pan market.

Hey Toddoky. Thanks for the clarification.
