1968 C10 SWB AZ build

I got my truck from a guy in Lake Havasu AZ Sept of 2019. I bought it for my wife, but I am probably going to drive it more than her. I think it was a farm truck but it was cheap and didn't have to much rust. My plan is to get it running and then do the body work later. It did not come with a engine but it did have the four speed trans. I already had a sbc and turbo 400 so I am only going to clean up the frame and get all new brake a suspension parts. I am also going to change out all the old fuel and brake line and wiring harness along with the bench seat to two buckets. I started the build in late October and finally got it running this year in May.
Since I am not good with starting post let along keep up with them I never post my work. It was tough the wiring kicked my ass but I got it mostly finished just waiting on parts and then I can slowly start doing the body work. I will be replacing the rear differential gears and get a posi or lifted slip. I am sure there will always be something to change out or fix in the future but I am happy I finished it and my wife and I can finally enjoy it. Since I live in Arizo a I will bring it out to the next Dinos truck show, it was huge last year I brought mine out but it was not running and I had it towed up.

It took me the better part of four months to clean, sand and paint the front frame. I then ordered the drop coils and disk front brakes.

Great truck, but I am partial to 68 C10 SWB trucks...

Hopefully being a desert truck, you will not have any major rust issues like I did. Definitely keep us up to date and take (and post) lots of pics!

I then started on the rear suspension but I forgot to take beginning pictures. I changed out the trailing arms, coil spring, shocks, and switched to disk brake.

Unfortunately it has the normal rust in the cab, I will be fixing that and probably changing out most of the fenders and bed sides.

Once I finished the front and rear suspension I then started doing the new brake and fuel lines. The brake lines where prebent but the fuel line I had to bend it. The rest of it I used AN-6.

Once I finished the rear suspension I went ahead a put in the SBC and turbo 400. I also got a 3 row radiator with electric fan. I went with AN lines on everything. A little overkill but worth it in the end. Auto plumb has a very good product.

I originally had a electric water pump but I had to switch to a mechanical water pump as I could not put my alternator on like I wanted to.

Once I got the engine, trans, and radiator in I then decided to start the wiring harness. It took a few months and it was my first. Luckily it had all the wires named so I was able to get it put in and everything worked once I finished it.

I also ordered hooker super competition headers, and hooley blackheart exhaust. It only took 4 months and both together cost a small fortune, but very worth it.

Got rid of the tore up bench seat and got two buckets out of a Mazda tribute. I also put in my gear shift on the bucket seat bracket.

Finally put on the bed and now most of the truck is together just waiting on rear bumper brackets, dash pad, and the sun visors.

Haven't done much because of the heat and waiting on parts. I did put in the cigarette lighter in, the reverse lights. I still have to put in the bed braces on and waiting on the rear bumper brackets. I also put on my front bed mount perches as the previous owner had taken the out. I will have to take some new pictures of what I did.

Great looking ride there sir. Gotta love the AN Fittings. As you mentioned, not cheap, but they are nice looking, work great and are easy to install once you get them made up.
Great job!
