New/Old C-10 Build ??

Hi! Got a couple questions for those who have swapped frames and cabs etc. Does the title go with the cab or the frame. I am in California and want to make sure I do things right. I have a 69 short bed frame. I plan to get a better cab than the one I currently own.

Title goes with the cab, the frame only has a partial vin
