New and can’t wait to get my own build going
What a blessing this site is for us all.
A little about my find. 5 yrs back I was painting a home for a older lady. One day while eating my lunch I saw a truck off in a field sitting under a tree. Curiosity got to me ,so I went over to look it was a black 72 Cheyenne 4x4 swb fleetside. Needless to say loved it… I had a 69 swb c10 in high school. I was a truck guy then and wasn’t afraid to show the others in there novas and such, trucks can do burn outs too.. She told me her late husband bought it new and parked it there when he wasn’t able to drive no more and didn’t want to sell it. But after she realized I wanted it to keep and take care of it , she gave it to me. A blessing…. The real kicker is about 2 yrs ago My youngest son wanted us to meet his new girlfriend. So he brought her over.. while in backyard bbqing it up she asked me, where did you get that truck ? I told her the story and she said. That’s my grandpas old truck… sure enough it was. 2 yrs later they are married with a new son. So the build is for me and someday he’ll own his grandpas and great grandpas as well…. So far, all apart, cab and doors done. Frame and all running gear next. This site will be so much needed information…thanks to all:chevy: |

I can definitely drive a nail better then work a laptop. I’m excited about the truck. Once I get my old phone working I’ll post a picture of it when I got to bring it home. It sit under the tree for yrs, but a battery and gas in the carb fired right up. It was his company work truck and she gave me all the documents of receipts of all services done to it through the yrs |

Re: New and can’t wait to get my own build going
Cool story. I used to see that truck with him driving it around and knew where it sat. Glad you got it. It will be nice when done. I have a black & white '71 Cheyenne 4x4 long bed project. I had it dipped as well. It is currently stalled as I moved out of town last year, and have been getting my shop in order. Keep up the good work so I can stay motivated! Randy

Re: New and can’t wait to get my own build going
Did you go hunting with him.?
That’s where the few dents came from I thinking. I wish it would of been parked in the barn. The bed floor got wasted from the rubber mat sitting in there. And a lot rust in cowl from all the leaves, but that’s all repaired now. Doors and fenders were pretty good luckily. I’m really wanting to switch it over to auto when I get to the frame. |
