One Piece 67-72 Windows (no triangles)

73-87chevytrucks.com will start selling these shortly.

This would be the MONEY shot!!! (no little triangle thingy...)
http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/temp...ornervent1.jpg

Hopefully this will allow me to get the notifications and put all the info in one post where it belongs. The kit will be priced within $445-495 with a choice of clear, "green" or grey tint. Power window upgrades are availible. The power window company used it Electric Life. If you have these already, you are set and you just need the window kit.

The kit will require the hinge stop to be modified and it will only require 3 holes to be drilled in the door. The hinge bumpstop will be included in the kit. The kit will also include everything neccesary for the conversion. The release date it set to be then end of February.

thats AWESOME. is that what is on John Fabris' truck? there doesnt seem to be a filler piece on his truck.. maybe he will chime in.

also, do you know if theres a way to get the kit with longer felts and such (maybe even a longer window:D) for my cab stretch? that would make my month.

Since the glass is flat, it shouldn't be difficult to make new pieces that are long enough for a little stretch.

Definitely not what is on Johns truck Unless he had them make it. The pictures are of the prototype.

I am sure you can get them to make you something, but it will be expensive I am sure.

Current kits have the 'triangles' for filling in the extreme corner of the window opening.

Re: One Piece 67-72 Windows (no triangles)

the brotherstrucks one has the little filler panel 'triangle' in it at the front of the window.. not a big fan of it, but it is acclaimed to be the most straight forward and almost no midification type bolt on deal.. but really, its no fun if you dont get to cut some stuff to make things fit IMO. :D

Yes, but not without the triangled piece in the corner.

Here is a pic for comparison:

This kit comes with everything. You don't have to cut anything to get it to fit. New tracks, channels, glass, felts etc, come with it. If you ever decide you don't like them, you can put the vents back in short of reattaching the vent support.

As for the price on electric upgrade, it will be retail + the cost of the electric life power kit. They are trying to get the price close to $450 on the kit...

The hold up is the parts negotiations and the patent. As of today the Retail is $495, they are hopefully negotiating to get the parts prices lower to lower the cost. Of course this is retail, and I will have it lower, just need to find out what my cost is.

Now if you really want to prepay now you can and if there is a difference the balance will be due before shipment, but do you really want to do that?

SCOTI 01-16-2007 08:27 PM

Re: One Piece 67-72 Windows (no triangles)

$450 to $495 is only a $45 dollar difference (22.50 a side). IMO, it's worth that difference to delete those corner pieces. Consider it a cheap upgrade added to the price of the kit  .

Re: One Piece 67-72 Windows (no triangles)

do these rattle and flop around like the old version of the one piece windows?

John Fabris 01-16-2007 09:54 PM

Re: One Piece 67-72 Windows (no triangles)

that is cool!! I have the little triangle peice, and of course, not that I see this one!!!

Oh well, next truck... (hint, working on another 67 SWB fleet with a 402)....

Re: One Piece 67-72 Windows (no triangles)

If the price is around $600 for the power setup and it really is using electric life (or whatever) motors, sign me up. Can we get a group buy discount? It's obvious you have at least a dozen serious prospective buyers here.

Chris, I have also been waiting to see a kit without the triangle... as long as you're confident that the window doesn't rattle around, I'm ready to sign up!!

:agree:

Rattling window/windows becoming unhinged is my main concern. They must have one hell of a nice inner track if it's not a problem with this setup.

Captkaos 01-16-2007 11:51 PM

Re: One Piece 67-72 Windows (no triangles)

I will assume it is like the 73-87 kit, and if so, the inside front track is pretty strong.

It is definitly using Electric Life for the power windows.

Re: One Piece 67-72 Windows (no triangles)

I am interested in this one also. What about wind noise & rattling. How does the prototype do?

Captkaos 01-17-2007 12:18 PM

Re: One Piece 67-72 Windows (no triangles)

The truck pictured isn't the companies truck, it is a customers truck that volunteered to have his truck used as the prototype. I am sure he would complain about any issues, and have them fixed, but I can reverify this info if you like.

This is in his words:
Quote:

"As far as rattling, there is None! The glass is mounted almost the same way as the 73 and up kit. I designed some special brackets for the door, as you know there is a hump inside the door that was getting in the way of completing a true one Piece glass, but I figured it out.

The kit will be able to be used on Original manual, and The Electric life power window regulators.

The only major cutting will be the brace where the vent window is. There will be 3 holes that will be needed to be drilled in the door and a slight modification to the latch assembly inside the door."
Plus I have more pics...
