327 Long Block 3959512 GM Service Engine Replacement

327 Long Block Casting #3959512. $500

This came out of a 69 K10 purchased as a donor for a project. Bought the truck over the phone with the hope that the engine was the original 350. It was obviously not.

This was a GM service replacement engine. See the CE prefix on the pad. This crate engine was apparently produced to cover pre and post 67 applications. Hence the provisions for pre-67 style crankcase ventilation. This appears to have been cast in 75.

This is probably an item that would be better served on a Corvette or TriFive forum..but I have no desire to join one of those. I have made use of one of them to find out more about this engine and here is a link that discusses them:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...olt-block.html

Obviously local pick up is best, but would be willing to facilitate shipping to a degree. Buyer responsible for making arrangements. More pics to follow...

Yep. My brother picked up a K10. It's been a fun project to work on together. I'm going to get a build thread going when we get a little farther along. Trying to turn spares like this engine into stuff we need.

Here ya go Mike. By the numbers...

...don't know why it inverted the pics, but it measured 2.30 on the mains and 2.00 on the rods. As a sense check the ID on the main caps was 2.50.

I know. Let's be real...you can't afford not to have it. Less than an hour away. It's almost too good to be true ;)

Isn't that the truth, but I better hold off for now. Super cool set-up though and I love 327s. It should sell pretty quickly. :metal:

Wow--a small journal 327! Drop a 283 crank in it and buzz it to the moon!

On another note, looks like there's three of us here in Athens!
You guys ever get to the swap meet every month in Commerce?

That sure sounds like small journal dimensions...if you can confirm that the block has no ring ridge on it that would really help...I need this to be able to be used as a stock bore engine...I have a son that goes to school near Orlando so pickup will not be a problem if we get to that point...I have actually bought engines from Robbie (gac10boy) and Tim (uncle) down there a few times already so I am familiar with your area...please let me know...thanks, Mike

Here are a couple of pics. I can perceive the transition with my finger. I don't know what the the tolerance would be and no way of measuring it at my house. I can also perceive some variance between cylinders. Again I don't know enough to tell you if you'd definitely have to punch it up.

I got my entire front clip and both doors for the Blazer from the swap meet in Commerce. It's been a while since I've been though. I had noticed that they had bumped it up to one every month. I was very sad to see that Hayne's Salvage yard there had liquidated and crushed all their trucks. I went a couple of months ago to try and pick up some axle parts....and they were all gone. A lot of good stuff gone to the crusher.

I put on the swap meet--it's been every month since I started it 15 years ago!
Haynes ended up selling out; he tried to sell the place with all the inventory, but nobody would buy it, so he crushed it and got what he was asking for the land. It sucks, but he'd told me a couple years ago the classic area had become a museum because everybody came to look at stuff but almost never bought anything.

Send me your email address and I'll put you on our monthly newsletter list.
Eckler's is giving away $10 gift certificates to cruise-in vehicles every month, and we've got two shows per year that feature Eckler's gift certs for vintage trucks. I'm trying to with with truck clubs to get them to come out on those days, too. (which should get the specific truck vendors to come out en masse too).

Not so glad to see I’m not the only one. I went and had a mix between shock and wtf!!!!! I don’t have any clue where to go semi local anymore.

Weekend bump for this meaty jewel. Make some extra cubes or a lot of revs. Very versatile lump that'd make a nice wolf in stock clothing.
