No L31 Crate Engines, 350 HO 335HP crate?

OK, now that it looks like the L31 is no longer, What is your thoughts about the 350 HO 335 HP GM crate motor. It is a lot less than the HT383 and might be possibility. The only thing I see comparing it to the stock 350 my truck came with is below 2000 rpm my stock motor may have a little more grunt. I do have a 2004r with 4.10 gears. I know the 2004r 1st gear is a little lower than the th350 that was in the truck. I'm not racing, but want to make sure I don't loose any fun in driving.

Just my opinion - I'd find a rebuildable L31 before I would drop that much money on an engine that doesn't have a roller cam.

I also think you might be disappointed with the torque curve.

Pricy for a flat tappet cam.
The base 195 hp motor with a retro fit roller would be about the same price.
What’s wrong with the motor you have?

I agree with rebuilding a L31 350. You should be able to build a really nice 350 for a bit less than the cost of the HO350. If that is not an option, I would find a better engine for the money that they want for the HO350. Blueprint engines have a pretty good reputation. Summit sells them or buy direct.

That was my 2 concerns.

You have 4.10 gears and are worried about how the engine will act below 2000rpm? That doesn't line up well. Regardless, the stock torque convertor should flash to almost 2000rpm behind a healthy 350 so its a mute point.
