Arizona is awesome

Just got back from a week there at the in-laws. Near Phoenix.
Seems that we had much going against us. My wife seemed to develop a sun allergy, I had some weird eye allergy before we left for there, the neighbors started replacing the spinkler system @6 AM. My upper back started spasming. It all was such nice weather we just forgot about the little stuff and enjoyed the stay. Coming from the Seattle area the blue sky and the low of 60something was a delight. My wife and son and I hiked @ the White tank mountains. We went to the Phoenix auto show, swam in the pool, saw the Botanical gardens hiked some rock formations near ther while my wife looked for coffee. Thinking about visiting @ summer to see if we can stand the real heat? view from the pool Attachment 834035 $1.50 draft! Attachment 834036 Look at the bottom, how blurry it is because how far up we were. I've been in that very spot! My brother lived in Youngtown. And the sheetmetal is awesome! I bought a rust free AC 72 cab for only 200 bucks...

Re: Arizona is awesome
NonHog,we were at Laughlin for the River Run in the spring,my wife sneezed from Flagstaff to Laughlin I think it was the pine or the mesquite. It's hard to compare our green yards to the landscaped with rock yards besides like you I still like our seasons.

Re: Arizona is awesome
I smoked a lot of dope in the White Tanks when I was a GI stationed at Luke AFB. Good memories! Did you go up to the waterfall?
Always loved the AZ desert. Summer days are awful, but not too many other places can you drink a beer in the pool at 3:00AM. |
Re: Arizona is awesome

Re: Arizona is awesome
I didn't get near that area, I wondered what the water bills were on the yards with grass? I love the SW U.S. I think I could put up with the heat in the summer for the heat in the winter:lol:
My wife wants to be a traveling Nurse after the dust settles with her parents estate. She likes Arizona,New Mexico and Texas but wants to go back to Iowa in summer. |

Re: Arizona is awesome
a buddy of mine and his fiancee (retired) bought a "home" in some trailer type area for a winter place. they spent like $6000 and lot rent is $4000/yr which includes all the activities they could want. last weekend I called him while I was out in freezing drizzle and he said it was 74* with a slight breeze and not a cloud in sight.

Re: Arizona is awesome
I like Tucson a little more than Phoenix - they get the summer monsoons there, thunderstorms every day in July and August. I don't think I could handle the heat there though. We never get more than 5 or 6 days a year above 80 here.

Re: Arizona is awesome
I like the green and season changes in other parts of the country too. But, we never have to shovel sunshine!

Re: Arizona is awesome
And now I live there (here) Tucson area. I love it! Just stumbled across this old post getting pics of my old C10. Almost 10 years apart. (1st post and today)

Re: Arizona is awesome
Hey wow. That was cool to read through this thread (I did notice it was 10 years old) to see you did end up moving to AZ. So I guess you went back in the summer? Good to see you post. No more roof moss, ey? Tell Don I said hi and I miss his humor

Re: Arizona is awesome
I'll be the contrarian. Nice place to visit but I would never live there again.
It's so dry it makes my skin crawl. In the summer with the dry heat and wind it feels like a convection oven. An my swimming stayed cold due to the outrageous water evaporation. Don't get me started on the pack rat problem. |
Re: Arizona is awesome
