leaf spring question

This bolt has gone bad. I think it is also contain in a metal tube. Does some sell this part? Also if I unbolt this will it be dangerous? Do I need to clamp the leaf springs to reduce it going un sprung?

Any spring shop should have a replacement or im sure you could replace the bolt with a grade 8 from Home depot or Lowes.. Lowes also sells a spacer you could adapt to fit

order a new one on ebay or a leaf spring seller near you.

Or get 1 from a u-pull-it

Its to hold the leafs from fanning out .

You can pull it no problem . There no crazy special bolt so hardware store stuff is fine .

Re: leaf spring question

before you remove that center bolt put a c clamp on it so once the bolt is removed you can release the spring pressure slowly. Its isn't dangerous like a coil spring but it does have a little pressure on it. The new correct bolt will be longer then the one you are removing. Once you tighten it up you the cut off the extra length.
