My 06 CC gets wheels
If you have been following the thread that Phantom Dually started you will know that I have been trying to decide what wheels toi buy for my 06 Crewcab Silverado.
I finally gave up trying to find another wheel that I liked more than the Eagle Alloys 026. The local tire shop where I buy my wheels didn't have them in stock so they ordered a set for me. I went by Friday and had them installed. See what you think...:) http://www.myoldtruck.com/gallery/fi...b_original.jpg http://www.myoldtruck.com/gallery/fi...b_original.jpg |

BTW our wheels look very similar!!

Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
Yeah, 98 % of the wheels on the market look like mine and yours. These have more curve to the blade and it doesn't come out on the lip like yours.
I went with a Falken 305/40/22. |
Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
What tire pressure are you running?? Im at 40 and it takes bumps kinda hard. Not sure I care for the ride of the BIG wheels!!
|
Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
I'll have to check them and see. If anything the 22's improved my ride. The stock 17's rode like crap. I am dissapointed in the ride on this truck all together. My 04 Dodge Quadcab rides so much better.

Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
Nice wheels. Better than the chrome ones.

Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
I have mine back to the dealership today. I had notived that the front rotors felt warped. When I put the wheels on I saw a deep groove on one side and two on the inside of my front right rotor. Grrr.
I'll check my tire pressure when I get it back. I think new shocks are in my future too...:( |

Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
This is alittle offtopic but where did you get the chrome tubes from? I always liked them on the Harley F-150 and wondered what the would look like on a Chevy.
|
Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
Thats BS. I bought my truck used as you know. The first thing I had the dealer do was turn the rotors. They didnt change the pads so they are starting to wear uneven as you can see a black line on the rotor itself. I also am not the least bit impressed with the brakes themselves as far as stopping power goes. May be time to upgrade the rotors to some after markets and try some hawk pads.

Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
They are CHROME!!

Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
On my 05, the brakes were always really touchy, as in tap the brakes and go through the windshield touchy. The part I found odd it that GM went back to drums on the 2wd trucks, and left the 4wd oned with rear discs.
|
Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
Yeah Jon, I don't know what GM is doing. They had rear disc's on the 1500 2wd and they seemed to work fine. They were having problems with calipers sticking and rotors warping so maybe the figured they could save a few bucks. As usual they figured that no one would notice them going backwards a few decades in technology.
Sticking calipers seems to be a common problem with many of the light duty trucks on the market these days. Dodge, Nisssan, and GM all have had a problems with warping rotors due to sticking calipers in the first few thousand miles. I think they need to look hard at the vendors they are using and demand a solution. Oh wait, I forgot they did find a solution for the rear. Has anyone checked to see if the new GM trucks have drum brakes on the front too...:( |
Re: My 06 CC gets wheels
Ken, truck is looking good with all of the hardware you put on. Sorry to hear about the ride quality. Does your truck have the torsion bar front end or the coil spring front end? I have noticed a ride difference between the two depending on the front suspension.
