Allright! anymore trucks from SoCali?

john j 04-16-2005 08:07 AM

Question? If L.A. and Ontario are So Cal, what do you call the Imperial Valley where i grew up? Upper Baja. L.A. has always been known as southern Cal. Doesn't make sense though does it. Any way Hello from an ex cali homeboy from Newport NH. johnj

Hawthorne... South bay... thinking about starting a local club of some sort for weekly metings and /or cruise nights.

Dano69c10 05-03-2005 06:59 PM

I was thinking of a SoCal club meeting in Orange Co. so LA and San Berdoo counties could be involved. Maybe just a once a month or every other month so members could get to know each other and trade, buy or sell parts etc. Maybe some kind of So Cal network. Find out where members are and find a location central to everyone.
Just an idea.

cojnit 05-03-2005 07:02 PM

Maybe somewhere like "The Block" at the Orange Crush, or maybe Downtown LA . Just thinking of places. Anyone else interested?

I will be willing to organize (attempt)

let me know what you guys think.

Dano69c10 05-03-2005 09:08 PM

At night I don't think traffic would be too bad. Maybe someone owns a pizza joint with a huge parking lot. Maybe a weeknight 7 pm or so, or a donut/coffee shop early on a saturday morning. I think truck guys would like this idea. Anyone interested start responding to this thread so it can happen.
Thanx cojnit for the response

I just know that this is agreat resource if nothing else. It has been very sucessful in my 4 wheeling club, and I think it would be nice for street rides. Everything I find is so far away from me. I just feel like I am the only guy in LA that needs help now and then, and I end up spending way more than I know I should be because of it.

Nancy.R 05-04-2005 10:42 AM

I am in sunland, and am working a resto 1980 stepside.
I have a 4x 4 rolling 76 for parts.
needs to go soon.

john j 05-18-2005 04:33 PM

wow Indio, I grew up in Holtville, just south of ya. Did alot of trucking up your way hauling dirt. Miss the desert. Remember when the Salton Sea was clean? johnj

Super Duck 05-18-2005 05:10 PM

I was there from 84 to 98 and the Salton sea was never clean (thanks Mexico). what company did you haul dirt for? I have been around truckd all my life, and my dad is a heavy mach. used to be at Valley rock.

Mel Foye 05-27-2005 03:24 PM

Hi. Mel in Azusa checking in.
Wrecked my 69 Suburban and waiting to see from insurance if I need to repair or replace.
As far as a get together I recommend the Pomona Swap meet. Easy for most to get to, no traffic to fight, food and drinks available etc.
Second choice is Fuddruckers in Pasadena on Saturday late afternoon. Mel

As far as what they call the Imperial Valley, I think the word HOT is often used. :)

Checkin' in from Hemet...

Super Duck 06-01-2005 03:00 PM

hey dirt burb, do they still do truck and tractor pulls in Hemet?

DirtyBurb86 06-02-2005 06:56 AM

Nah, we're all city slickers here in Hemet now. The tractor pulls are now at the speedway in Perris, about 15 miles down the road.

Super duck we used to haul for Massey sand and rock. They sold out to Granite Construction. We also hauled for a company out of Salton City. Aggregate Products. Most of there stuff went to El Centro area. Yeah your right, the Salton Sea is really bad. I remember back in the 60's the Corvina that come out of there would weugh about 20 lbs. Now it's so poluted it stinks. Such a waste. If you fly over it you can see the pollution flowing in on the south end. I like to tell people back here about the dinosaurs up in Cabazon. They don't believe me. LOL johnj
