I took a jaunt up over Konnowac Pass To Moxee today for the 2023 version of The American Reflections car club show in the park.

First off is a pretty nice blue TF

Taking them in the order I walked up to them I cam up to this mid 68 8 lug long bed owned by a nice lady who I believe said was taking it to a show for the first time. She said it was like one her grandfather had. It was a mom and daughter day for here and her daughter.

This 50 belongs to a guy who owns a fab shop that Idon't know much about. If I am not mistaken he had been working away on the body since I saw it a month ago.

That seat really looks comfortable.

Down the row was a really nice 71/72 Shortbox that was super straight and midnight blue.

OOPS, malfunction I put the wrong rig in in pkace of the front shot of the 50.

Nice Decco truck that I see every so often and the Square body that you see at almost every event in the area. He is one of the involved members of the local cars and coffee group that meets most saturday mornings.

The Green 50 I haven't seen before as far as I know but it is a pretty nice truck and will get several photos in the batch. Metal cover over the bed.

More of the green 50 and a shot of a brown and tan AD and then a radio flyer rat wagon.

Old school chrome cowl panel. The red looks good too.

Hiding over in the corner was this sweet 55 Big window that belongs to Mario. Great paint, great color and while not quite finished it is nice. He wins the "your truck gets the most photos posted" prize this time.

Gotta get a plug in for my niece Chrystal and her What I Crave food truck. She serves up some of the best little tacos and sliders you will ever find. She was pretty busy keeping people fed.

The Red 4x4 68 is a nice one and is usually sitting in that spot every year.

That's it for this year as far as GM trucks go.

Here is my link to my Smugmug album for the show, It is an open event and anyone with a vehicle and the entry fee can enter so you see a bit of everthing but it is in a nice park and free to spectators.

Right in Nvrdone's back yard too.

The first one is always the one you remember forever. Word of advise, don't be wrapped up in the trophy and award thing. Go to enjoy the day, share your truck and have a great time. If you get an award that is cool but never should be expected. Thank folks for compliments and don't worry about the nit pickers, There those and they usually travel in pairs who's whole hobby is to point out what they see as flaws in folks rides. They are usually the ones with the beat up piece of junk out in the parking lot and not entered in the show. The best prize is when someone wants to have their photo taken with your rig. That is one of my best memories from the 73 NSRA street rod nationals in Tulsa. A younger guy had his buddy take his photo with my truck because he had one at home that he was working on. Remember to take photos to share with us.

I'd just like to see new to the show thing folks go with the intent of having a good time and enjoying the event and not be wrapped up in the trophy thing. A lot of picks for awards at small shows often don't make much sense anyhow.

I knew a guy a few years back who spent several years and quite a bit of money building a street rod. He hit about four or five events and after the car never won an award put it up for sale and got clear out of the hobby. All he was interested in was getting a trophy and never took time to actually enjoy a show that he went to.

My last two awards at shows were "longest time unfinished at one years Unfinished nationals and most potential at a friday night cruise put on by the owners of the local McDonalds burger chain.

As many know, I spent 13 years teaching high school auto mechanics. My students knew that on many weekends I went to shows all over the PNW and a few of them would ask if I won anything when they saw me on Monday. By "won" they didn't mean award, they meant door prize and hopefully it was car wax or polish, Chrome polish or Armor all as I would set that stuff on a shelf in my office for them to use. Both my 51 Mercury and my 48 were in primer in that time frame and I sure didn't need wax.
