06 3500 Auction Score
 

Greetings all,

Havent been on much since I sold my other trucks, but picked up a truck at auction today that I'm gonna be tinkering with so I thought I'd share a couple pics.

2006 3500, 4wd, 8.1, Allison, Crew cab, utility bed with 98k miles. Seems to run and drive well, been maintained at the NASA base where I work so its pretty solid other than some rocker panel rust that every one of these trucks seems to have. Has typical work truck dents and dings and needs a seat, headliner etc but otherwise in perfect shape for hauling the dogs and kids around.

Plans as of now are to clean it up, change fluids and filters, find a center console and use it for truck stuff around the inlaws farm and towing my atvs around. Eventually I may try to find a fleetside bed for it but thats down on the priority list.

The Utility bed might pay for a fleetside bed.

The 8.1L and Allison scared me away from a couple nice looking trucks. LOL

Latest update. :metal:

All new steering box, TREs, Ball joints, Pittman, Idler, brakes all around, fluids, ex manifold gaskets, Used 265s on some PYOs, replaced speakers, head unit, and mirrors. Tinted windows, and a bud of mine just fixed the rust in the rockers for me. Also swapped beds and removed stickers. Here are the transformation pics and latest pic I have from a couple weeks ago just before i dropped it off to get the cancer removed.

Just picked up a set of methods this week, gonna likely upsize to a 285 when these go on the truck later this spring. Also got a new set of body mounts on the way, notice the stock ones were pretty beat when I was installing nerf/step bars last week.

Do I need to worry with getting the speedo adjusted if I go to 285s? Damn sure dont wanna mess up the trans shift points/pattern.

And here's a pic of the new wheels. Will likely be a while before they go on the truck but they were too good of a deal to pass up. :metal::chevy:
