I picked up this beauty in a trade for my old 1964 golf cart! Can you believe it? She's a 1965 3/4 ton GMC running a 327 chevy, 4 speed w/ granny low, and reeeeeeeeeeally high gearing out back! Not sure what gears I have but i'm pretty much wound out at 65 mph. Over all she's in very good condition. Very minimal rust, bed wood is totally gone, and a few mechanical things to sort out, but running and driving down the road. I've got a game plan all figured out, I just hope it doesn't take too long so I can get back on the road!

So, here is the other part of the plan for my '65. It's a 1974 C10 1/2 ton heavy LWB. The cab and interior are pretty bad and there's no motor or trans, so I don't feel bad stealing all it's parts. I'll be using the front crossmember w/ disk brakes, power brake booster and master cylinder, Power steering, rear axle that has already been flipped :metal:, and the dual exhaust. Anyone need some body panels? More pics to come.

I'd say I'm really good at taking stuff apart, and just ok at putting them back togeather. Making progress though.

Thanks Bomp. I skimmed your build a while back. Love the stretched cab! Hope I don't have to do anywhere near that amount of body work on my project though.

I got the rest of the stuff off the parts truck today. I was surprised that I didn't break or have to cut off any bolts. I do need to get one of those tools to get the ball joints apart on the spindles and steering linkage. Do I need to get a different pitman arm or will the one from the '74 work?

:hi: and welcome to the board !!

I bought a '85 Sierra for my donor rig, and was able to cannibalize it for tons of stuff which saved me a lot of money. Mostly just cost me time.

Good luck on your build, you are in a great location for this sort of thing !!

Got my T5 WC today. Now to find an S10 tailhousing and lid. Does anyone have a good thread of an install of a t5 on a high hump? I now need to get togeather all the suspension rebuild, steering rebuild, body mounts, Capt'n Fab power steering and power brake mounts, and various other parts. I'd like to get everything ready to bolt on so I'll be out of commision for the shortest time possible.

Re: Project Clementine- 1965 GMC 3/4 LWB Long and Low Static Drop

all the 74 steering stuff will work, before you get rid of the bare frame get some measurements from the upper a-arm bolt through the frame (pass side)to the pass side mount of the steering linkage. I had to drill a couple new holes to mount mine.
I see you already have the capt fab steering bracket for the box, and all you have to do is shorten and get the column shaft welded, or if you like bolt on better, capt. has a piece for that as well.
another tip for the few holes that you have to oval out, I think there are 2 on the suspension, and 1 on the steering box:
get a piece of steel with the 25/64 hole in it , and clamp it to the frame over the hole that needs to be ovaled, use that piece as your drill bit guide oval out the hole.

Today I picked up 2 of the 5 Dodge 20" Steel Spare wheels I need. Couldn't resist rolloing them over to try them out.

Hey b_bob I'm actually new to this site but I notice you have the exact same truck I have and I was wondering what kind of suspension it has?
My truck has front and rear springs coils plus leaf springs on the back?

I've got coil up front and leafs in the back. It's a 3/4 ton GMC, that's how most of them came. Not sure what you mean by "front and rear springs coils plus leaf springs on the back", unless you mean coil front, coil rear with helper leafs in the rear. That was also an option on the 3/4 trucks. Can't wait to get her just how I want her.
