Black Metal Polish Residue

All the metal polishes indicate to remove the black residue before it dries. When polishing a wheel, there is no way unless you do a little at a time, stop wipe residue, do a little more, etc. If you polish the entire wheel first before removing the residue will it come off? Can you wash it off with soap and water? Can you just re-wet it with water, then wipe it off?

Thanks

Don't wet it, I think it'll make it worse. I sprinkle a little flour on it, then wipe. It takes the black residue off.

Re: Black Metal Polish Residue

When I polish my Weld wheels I do 1/5 of the wheel at a time. Then I can get the black off easier. I never get in a hurry and just lay in the shade and polish my wheels. I use my old T-shirts and socks with holes in them.

Re: Black Metal Polish Residue

Get some detail spray and use that to remove the polish residue. I use it all of the time when I polish wheels.
