68 c10 suburban 5.3/4l60
I had a fairly long post written to introduce this project and - Flash! It disappeared. So, I’ll come back around to the longer version later..
The short is that I bought a running/driving 04 Sierra that got hit in the rear and want to use as much as I can from it to complete a swap into my suburban. Wondering about fuel tank. Hopefully next weekend I’ll be able to pull the bed off the Sierra and take a look at it’s tank. My 1st choice is probably to use the original tank, 2nd would be if I can fit the Sierra tank in somehow and last would be to get a new tank completely. I’ve read how easy it is to use an external electric pump and regulator and also seen the complaints of being noisy. I know an in tank pump will last longer- but I don’t want to get hung up and sidetracked worrying about the external pump if it’s good for 50k miles or better, I’d be more than pleased. |

I'm using a Rick's Tank on my '70 K10 5.3/4l60e swap. Not running yet, but I like the tank set up. I ran into a couple of issues because it is 4WD leaf spring truck, but Ricks was very willing to help out. You can check it out on my build thread if you like.

I modified my tank to use the 2003 pump assembly. Washed it out with detergent and hot water then left it in the sun for a few days. I am still alive no big boom..
I would not reccomend using the dirty dingo sliders. They set the engine to high to get proper driveline angles in a lwb truck or suburban. I bought the new hooker setup to lower the engine. |

I've used Bosch 044 external pumps on a few LS swaps with good success. No failures but never got close to 50K miles. C5 FPR. Little a bit noisy on start up but going down road you can't hear it.

Check out my build thread. I never finished adding pitcures but the tank has worked great.

As promised, my work is slow as molasses. My donor truck is pretty well disassembled and parted out. The engine and trans are all but ready to lift off the chassis.
Piling parts still. My dbw pedal mount came yesterday. I’m slow but at least I do lousy work.. |

I am planing using my 03 doner pump
Assembly with a 96 burbon tank Either order the l31 assembly for it Vett works makes a weld on ring set to use a ls1 pump assembly on a blazer tank I will probably diy vet works pump retainer conversion ring as they want an obscene amout to ship to canada Then the pump keeps its stock sump and a parts store on a road trip has a higher chance to have it in stock I used to hate the idea of an in tank fuel pump over time learning to like furl injection and learning pump is much quieter and cooler running in tank |

I’m trying to keep the harness intact. Engine and trans came out as a pair. There’s 1 small plastic wire loom “sheath” that runs along the passenger side frame rail and goes under the cab. Anyone know offhand if it’s one I need to follow back and keep or can I chop it? I’m not sure what it goes to. I can grab a pic tomorrow but didn’t think to when I was in the shop today.

Is that part of the engine harness? If it is, without seeing the other end of it, I would guess it's going to be a rear oxygen sensor wire, which if that's the case, you won't need it. But that's just a guess, you will need to see where it goes to be sure.

Yes, it is connected to the engine harness. Runs down the passenger frame rail there. I think the starter wires were upstream of it a tad. I’ll chase it back but was hoping it was the rear o2s like you said. Thanks ‘Nova

think that is the rear 02 sensor. just pulled mine last night and chased the same harness. I pulled mine anyways and will chop the rear ones later when I redo the whole harness.

My donor truck was wrecked pretty good. That was the wire headed to the O2 sensors. I finally have all the harness removed and the hulk is ready to scrap.

Trying to push the burb towards the front of my projects list again.
I bought a new fuel tank for a 1990ish fuel injected Jeep, need to figure out the pump and how it hangs in there but I know it was in somebody’s build I just need to search it up. Got a new shorter profile pan and pickup and some Camaro takeoff exhaust manifolds. |

I have a 98 Wrangler with a LS6/4L60E combo. Gas tank wise I used the stock tank. But modded the tank fuel level fuel pump holder.
If you have a tank like my 98 it has the fuel pump assembly held in place by a big screw on cap. I reused the cap but replaced the round plastic mount with a metal disc I fabbed. Then I welded a mount on the disc to hold the sender and fuel pump in place. I used a Walbro 255 pump. Been 15 years with zero issues. Sorry no pics. |
