It is really nice. He completely restored it a few years ago but hasn't been able to drive it much because it has an oil leak and it is geared VERY high. Revs far to high for any highway driving. Hopefully he can get those things fixed up soon and drive it.

Haha I keep trying to get him to clean it up and fix the few issues. It needs to be driven! Lol

Haha I am making progress for sure, unfortunately though it is not on the truck. I've been very busy with renovations on the house. We needed a new deck as well as new flooring and paint. With any sort of luck, I might be able to jump back on the truck sometime in June.

Looks like you are in the same boat as I am! The thing that bothers me is, since I'm not the most organized guy, every time I get a half of an afternoon to work on my truck, it takes me a solid hour of thinking to get me back on track and figure out what I need to do next. I admire guys who can juggle a hundred things and still be organized.

I'm still neck deep in a kitchen and bathroom remodel. We have guests coming to stay with us this Thursday for a week to 10 days so the push is on to wrap up the loose ends and get everything back in its place.

Woo hoo! Progress. I am out in the shop today for the first time in over a month! Working on grinding down my wire gutter filler panel. By no means a quick procedure but its good to be back at it for a bit!:metal:

what are you putting on the bare metal to keep it from rusting while you work on it? Being up north, I know your spraying something on there :D

I use a product called "dry coat", works for a year it says. I sprayed it on my hood almost 1.5 years ago and it's still holding.

Surprisingly enough I have never sprayed it with anything. I'm quite shocked it hasn't rusted yet lol

That looks nice. Primer will be sweet. I hear wd40 will help keep bare metal clean from flash rust. Never tried it.

I can imagine that wd40 would work very well. Im trying to avoid spraying anything on it if I can. I dont want any contamination when it comes time for paint.

Well its official, I am converting to 5 lug. I found the last rally rim I needed to complete my set. They are still 15x8 so I'm not loosing any width on the tires.:metal: I also forgot to post pics of my score from that junker that gave me a square body front cross member. Other than that, I am still just grinding away. :waah: :lol:

Hey thanks man. I use a 50 grit 3" roloc for grinding. Then I've just been giving it a quick once over with my random da and 80 grit.

I was really wondering how much work it would be to open up that inner cowell and clean it out/paint it. Not really sure the difficulty either.

Ive also been contemplating that drip edge...

Im trying to finish my truck some time before I die and am hesitant to add anything to the 'list'.... lol

Haha the "list" is definitely extreme for me. I have no idea when ill actually get to drive this thing but I enjoy working on it just as much. As far as the cowl panel removal, it wasn't as big of a job as i thought it would be. You just need to have the right tools is all.

Well that was a productive evening. I finished grinding down that last bit of weld, then I dismantled all the front sheet metal off the truck and got the passenger fender all mocked up. Fits pretty good but the cowl is a mile off. Haha now the fun begins. That last pic.......:lol:

I bought some primer for my firewall today. I really wish I had a vintage air unit so that I could fab up my mount before hand as that is the only thing that I can think of that might need to be welded to the inner firewall. Other than that I'm almost ready for priming it. I might have to redo the first patch I did though. I guess if I weld to the inner firewall later and it burns off the primer in a few spot it won't be that big of a deal.

This should be interesting, there was almost 3/8" of bondo on some of this damage yet it was still clearly damaged....like they were trying to pull the "it ain't that bad" thing.:lol: Re Creating that rolled lip at the edge of the wheel well could be a challenge but I'm up for it.:metal:

Woo hoo! I did something exciting today guys! I got the firewall in primer!:metal: No more worry about flash rust. Now ill be back to the fender repair. I have a plan of attack for the rest of my rust repair too. Since I have the passenger A pillar and nor the driver one, I'm going to go ahead and get the passenger fender and cab rust repair done. Then I'll have to blow this front end apart so I have room to spin the thing around and get at the driver side.

And so the rust repair continues. This morning I cut out the rot at the lower corner of my passenger fender. After that, I found that the inner structure had taken a fair amount of rust as well so I went ahead and cut that out as well. I made a new piece for the inner structure and got it welded in.

Between welding on that while waiting for it to cool, I also started working on the patch panel for my passenger B pillar. The thing, like all my other pieces, was not going to just drop right in and fit. So I went ahead and chopped it into three pieces so that I could get it right. Now I just have to weld it all back together and it can be installed.

Wheew that was alot of welding to fill in that gap, but its done now. Done mind the ugly welding, I was fighting it all the way. I also managed to get my fender patch ground down tonight as well. Hopefully tomorrow I can find some time to grind down the b pillar patch and maybe even get it welded in.

I got my B pillar patch finished up. Then I proceeded to test fit it with the rocker panel. It fit quite well. My door gap was also nice. It can still be fine tuned a little bit when I install the cab corner. Not sure if I want to do the cab corner or rocker panel next? Is there a benefit to doing one before the other?

Wow you would think that I would just realize by now that every piece I have for rust repair is terrible. I had a few minutes tonight to get an idea of how my cab corner is going to fit. It just looks terrible. :lol: I'm going to have to section it at least twice to get the fit right. Looks like I got my work cut out for me. These pictures are after I put the thing in a choke hold and folded it in quite a bit. Which created quite the kink on the lower edge of the corner.
