It would get HOT though. Its the size of a skateboard deck and could fry an egg on it (if the truck would stop vibrating long enough to keep it in place)

I do have some updates and will post them here soon. Was able to get the sound system fired up just this week and we are in the process of tuning now... Here is an updated pic. Custom built center console with IPad mini embedded in the dash. CDT audio speakers in custom kicks with Pioneer DSP head unit. Truck was not ready to play as we were up late the night before still doing assembly...

I'll post a couple more pics and maybe start a build thread...ill show my most recent pics then backtrack through the past year of fabrication. I did all the fabrication myself in my garage...if I can do it you can probably do it too!!!

Headliner... My favorite part. You can see tweeter in A pillar, crossed over at 8k and aimed directly at center channel to pull stage height up over the top of the dash and keep sound stage balanced between left and right channels. Most tweeters cross over at about 4500 hz, but these are a unique design of CDT audio and from what we have heard, have put the imagining almost at eye level and centered...we will cover the rest of the a pillar in Katzkin vinyl in the next few weeks as we clean up and fix a LONG list of the bugs...

Center Console Build

Didn't like many of the boxy designs, wanted something sexy but not too big. Settled on doing a split-level console...here's the pics...

Started with cardboard to get lower level piece ideas going...originally I was going to go with the jump seat in the middle as you can see in the last picture but with all the electronics...I had to ditch that idea about half way through so as to keep the stereo serviceble...

Got a "sexy" line on the bottom piece, then set about how to mount an Ipad and bolt the thing to the floorboard...just mocking up here...

More mocking up. Once I got the bottom tier done, I wrapped it in carpet that matched the carpet of the truck. I did it this way to minimize the look of the center console as a whole. I felt if the piece was all vinyl...it would look bulky and boxy...

Covered bottom piece in carpet...started on the top section with the Ipad.

NOTE - The big Ipad was to big to fit so I ditched the idea in favor of a mini Ipad4...glad I did...as it wouldn't have been proportional

Working on getting the top lines to flow and still fit under the jumpseat...lot of trial and error...

Got stuck on ideas for the IPad piece, so I moved to the shifter surround piece for a while...

With the outlines of the shifter piece done, I nailed it together then wrapped it in fleece for resin...

Resin....

Test for fit...

Mock up with IPad Mini and check for fit again...(My son couldn't leave the IPad alone...playing Minecraft)

Everything was looking good but then I realized than I was not going to be able to retain the jump seat. Too much of the electronics are in this console due to space limitations. And to keep the jumpseat, I would have had to remove all three seats just to change a fuse...

Bummer...I took a week off after this...

Back to Ipad piece...same routine...get shape...wrap in fleece...resin...sand

More sanding...more test fitting...then vinyl wrap...

Then ditch the jump seat and start the second piece over again...

Feeling dejected...I went ahead and did some "gratification" work...made the trim plate for around the IPad and made the surround for around the stick shift...

Ditched the old seats without the armrests and found a screaming deal on some 2005 Silverado seats with the armrests...

In the meantime, started wiring up the stereo, crossovers, power distribution and alarm...

More mocking up with cardboard...

More mock ups...then wrapped with fleece again.

Why red fleece this time? I got tired of blue...medium thick fleece still

More sanding...and then more sanding.

Played with the idea of putting the stock jump seat back on the top of the ne console, but ditched that idea for a cupholder and accessory tray...

Found 2006 Ford Focus cup holder...hacked into it with an air saw and then went to fabricating the cup holder trip piece...

Trim piece on top was fun to build. Used 1/4" mdf. To make the turns over the ends, I just cut the 1/4" mdf into 1/4 strips and then CA glued them together. To hold all of this together, i took some grill cloth and attached in front and back and resined it to hold it together...

Wrapped the trim panel in blue fleece (was tired of red now)...the resined everything with a couple of coats for strength...
