Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.
I have no problem with calling a Caddy a truck, just not one with the Avalanche style body. Not to step on any toes here, but those ain't trucks. Trucks have 3 distinctly separate pieces - front clip, cab, and bed.
And hang on with the poodle comments - they're some of the best dogs you'll ever be around, particularly the full size ones. They routinely rank second in the intelligence category behind border collies and they have hair, which means they don't shed. I also think they're smart enough to know how stupid the show groom styles are..:D Now if we're going to talk about dogs that technically aren't dogs, Chihuahuas are on the top of that list, the little rat bastiges... |
Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.
I think the regular cab 88-98 is one of the best looking trucks ever produced!I think Chevy was trying to recreate the 67-72,and they did a great job!

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.
Obviously, these trucks don't look anything like the 67-72s. But I think I see his point, only because I've had the same thought myself.
I think before long the 88-98 genre will be the most collectible/desirable/restorable truck since the 67-72, and for the same reasons: simple good looks that were cutting-edge for their time, and solid powertrains that run forever. But if the 67-72s are a benchmark (as far as subjective categories like timelessness), then it could be said that GM is trying to recreate the 67-72s every time they roll out a new design. They just hit a lot closer to the bulls-eye with the 88-98s. |
Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.
My personal favorites are the '55 - '57. Just plain cool, IMHO.
My second favorites are the '88 - '98's. They the most refined looking since the '67 - '72's, I've liked them since the day I saw the first one. The early LS series of trucks are cool, very little change from previous models, but I haven't learned to like the newest models yet. I specifically like the '88 - '98 trucks because of their smooth, refined lines. The newest generation added body molding/contours that don't go well with the rest of the lines of the trucks, IMHO. I've always thought that the trucks that looked most like the Glamour Trucks ('67 - '72) were the first of the S-10's. Put 'em both at a distance and the similarities are remarkable. |
Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.
I like my 95 but the worst thing about them is the lack of leg room on the std cab especially when I spend 12 to 15 hrs straight plowing. here is coupe others I have bought & sold I know it's about std cabs but I love the suburbans. The 88 was a beast in the snow.:chevy::chevy::metal:

I'm 6' but the seat are just to straight it gets uncomfortable after a while and the 97 I had with the custom seats was really uncomfortable (post33) I guess I need to recline more than the seats do, an extended cab works better for me I can put the seat back further:ito: |

Heres my 1996 Z71. Just mounted a new set of tires on it. 273,000 miles on the body, reliable as hell and 17MPG highway

I just picked up this 1993 1500 from the son of the original owner. His dad recently passed away at the age of 90. It has 66,000 original miles and NO RUST! Rare for this part of the country.

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.
^Nice find, looks like it even has the original factory dual exhaust setup.
As for the red truck, is it just me, or does it look like somebody mowed around it? That's never a good sign. |
Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.
Reviving an old thread to show mine off. If I told how cheap I bought it, you would ban me ;) I have a build thread started as well.

Dusting off this ol' thread!
Check out this beauty; she just came to live with me. One owner - in super great condition. Besides a little wear on the side decals, she's near perfect! I love this truck.. We're going to give her a little freshening up, maybe some new shoes...and then drive the wheels off of her! |

Both trucks are super nice. These are great trucks. I'd like to find a clean one, too. I used mine up and ended up selling it. Of course I regret it, same as all of them. But I didn't see another project in the future for me. '92 K3500 I ordered new for my business. 22 years of work and 335k. A great truck, 6.5TD/5spd, bucket seat SLE, in fleet green (traditional Woodland Green)
