bed cut?
 

anyone done a bed cut on a 67-72 fleet? i had 2 12 inch w6 jl's in a nissan frontier and it would slap the windsheild wipers on the window and nearly pop out the back glass. i miss that, i dont think theres any way to accomplish that in a single cab without a bed cut. i have bucket seats and have a small band pass with a single ma 10 sitting between the seats, its decent bump. but nothing like i want lol. i was thinking running a triple 12 box wiring the subs to one omh. this wont be getting done over night, i have more important things my truck needs before i worry abt an insane system

I'm highly against bed/cab cutting. It is your truck and do anything you want. What I woud look at doing is going through the floor. I saw it years ago in a Ford Ranger in Cali. They cut out the floor, and put in a metal baket, fiberglassed it. Hopefully it was enforced. The truck was lowered, but not uber low. I would think it would be easier to replace the floor than the back of cab and bed, but again, it is your decision.

The back wall of the cab is the best and easiest place to do this mod which is known as a "blow through"

These things can get loud, really loud without much effort, but they require some serious engineering. I haven't done one, but I am planning to do one on a '70 LWB one day for my girlfriend.

Running 3 subs on an amp @ 2ohm should be fine. Most amps can take the abuse. Running them @ 1ohm for extended periods however, can be very taxing.

im thinkin i want to run 2 or 3 audioque hdc3 18" subs. was playing with the idea of tuning 2 of the subs to one frquency and one of the subs to another frequency, if theory is right i would have continuously loud bass on a wide range of tones. never seen this done, would be something different. if i go with 2 subs they'll be tuned to the same freq. im just thinkin out loud here idk if this would even be possible to have the recommended air space. anyways my train of thought is if im gonna go to the trouble of doin a blow threw im gonna build something unique. cant say ive ever heard of a 67-72 with an 18" much less two or three.

would also be considering running individual amps for each sub, these subs are underated at 1k rms. im thinkin 1.5k-2k rms amp would be ideal. also would be considerin dual alts. yellow top up front, kintek's for each amp also. wanna control everything with a jvc double din screen. far fetched ideas here lol, and lots of money... but just considerin options

Tons of work for minimal results.

18's do nothing but move air. They are generally not useable for music. If you want to get seriously loud and stay somewhat in the realm of audible reproduction, then four 15's and four 8's do the job nicely.

You could also go with just four 12's. This is by far one of my favorite combos thus far. I've listend to ALOT of different stereos using alot of different equipment and approaches and so far 4 sealed 12's is my favorite mix of power and quality.

One system that also stands out in my mind is one that is in a candy orange 2000 Chevy 2500 up in Yuba City. Guy's name is Larry and he knows his stuff. He's rockin' four 15's in a blow-through and it sounds increadible and I'm told can hit mid 160's when burped.

I agree with AceX on this. 18" is for looks only. 4 12" would be the best set up. If you want to do 3 subs, I have done 2 12" and a 15". They were frequency tuned (12" were 150hz to 45hz and 15" 50hz on down) It sound great, but wasn't as hard hitting as my 4 12". At anypoint, good luck with the install and show pics when you get it going.
