smoke problem
 

I know nothing about carbs but here is my question. I had a q-jet on my motor and truck did not smoke. I just put on an used AFB that my bro-law had. Now when you step on the gas, I get a lot of white smoke. It filled up the cab once. What's the deal?

White smoke is motor oil or automatic trans fluid. Fuel smoke is kind of darkish gray color........

Are we talking exhaust smoke? Or smoke from under the hood?

I'll assume exhaust smoke. In which case, I would pull the vaccum modulator line off of the rear of the intake first, plug off the manifold side, and see if it goes away. If it does, your vaccum modulator on the trans is shot. No biggie.

I hate to say it (and curse you), but water also burns white. Check your oil, and make sure there isn't any water in it....(I know changing a carb wouldn't blow a head gasket, but strange things do happen).
