Rear glass trouble

I am having trouble installing my big rear glass. My wife and I have done these before but after the 3rd try on this I called a friend. My friend is a body guy and does this often. He and I got about as far as my wife and I had. Glass sits nice in the bottom and the seal lip is pulled all around, but the top will not go in and center on the pinch weld (sticks out at top). We tried to put in the lock strip but once we got to the top there was no way we could insert the tool. Stuck bare glass in the hole and roughly centered there is about 1/4" top and bottom with about 3/8" on the sides. Used new Precision rubber. Ideas?

Re: Rear glass trouble

I am surprised no one else has had this issue as I hear the glass comes from the same place over seas. I was told you cannot sand tempered glass, so I had a glass shop cut a piece of laminated glass, but with a 1/16" less on the top. Had it installed in 1/2 hour.

Mine went in w/o issue when we did the BBW conversion but it doesn't have the chrome strip on the seal. It was cut the same way you eventually got yours done (it was glass from a local supplier vs an aftermarket specific 'part'.
