Bench Seat Difference

I am putting a bench seat in my 68 truck and is there any difference between the bench seats from 67-72? My seat is missing and I'm just wondering on the difference.

Thanks!

Re: Bench Seat Difference

BIG difference ! .

The early seats have a fixed backrest , the later ones have a folding backrest so you can reach behind it easily .

I used a folding seat in my '69 and when I had it re covered , I had the Trimmer sew in three huge , deep pockets on the back , I carry gloves , maps and so on back there as my truck is , well a TRUCK ~ I work with it .

Some will incorrectly tell you to remove one bolt to make the fixed back rest movable , this isn't so .

If you like fancy , there is a split seat with center console , called " Buddy Buckets " not my cuppa tea but *very* popular and often found in junkyards with bad covers cheaply ~ you can trim it to match your paint or whatever , looks very nice .

I've owned a lot of 70-72 trucks, everything from Custom Deluxe to Super's. I've never had one that the bench seat folded up. I would be interested in anyone that has a factory bench seat to post pictures.

Re: Bench Seat Difference

You will get a lot of people telling you x years fold, x years don't fold. That's been covered in numerous other threads. As far as the foam and padding is concerned, they are all the same. Some seats were full foam, others spring.
