Elder believes the truck was used to haul manure in it's later years of service before retirement(late 80's). This is how it worked for the less-than-25 years it put in, though. (it's actually tongue-n-groove)
Second photo is how she sits today. You can see a lone remnant of the past yet to be removed.

I took that nearby. The other day I wished I had my camera. I passed a few different places where there was utilities, road work, or farming going on and all the trucks were GM medium or heavy duty trucks. I saw a General dump truck going down the road, too.

Well to be honest I've already completed it! I wanted it to be a flatbed tow vehicle for project cars and such. A workhorse, and not pretty. And that is definitely what it is.

Wheels were RH5º, now they are one piece modern 22.5x6.75 with 235/80-22.5. Ride well.

Thanks definitely looks like a work horse. Where did you get the wheels.

Oh, I got them on the website Wheelsnow.com part number 28160
Not a very affordable transaction, but I needed a hauler and it economically made sense at the time.

I bought the wheels from them also. 28160J. They aren't cheap as jumpsoffrock noted, but what can you do when you don't have any other option. I looked for a solid 2 years and only found two 22.5 originals.

I painted mine to match, but they seem like a good product. They are a bit thicker though, so the rear lugs are actually inside the threads by one or two. I need to find some swivel flange nuts that hopefully aren't as tall as the original lug nuts.

Wow that a beautiful truck do you have more pics or a build thread.
Thanks Keith.

Thanks Keith.

Thank you. I love the truck. I stumbled upon it a few years ago. The truck only has like 29k original miles on it. A guy was going to tear it down to use the cab and hood for a 1/2 project. I talked him out of it and was able to buy the whole truck. I though it too clean to tear apart. I wanted to save it and restore it. Its not done yet. So far just the mechanicals have been done and the paint. I still need to do the frame, bed wood, bed sides and the stake racks themselves.

I always sort of thought it cool to fix one up like this. Most car shows I attended growing up had mustangs, Camaros, etc. You never really see stuff like this and it seems even most non-auto-hobbyist appreciate something such as this. I know I do. Its been a frustrating and expensive journey so far, but I think its worth it.

I do have some more pics of it...they are scattered about in multiple threads.

I should have a build thread, but.....I don't. I can attach a few more photos.

Looks great.

Reminds me a lot of my '64 C-30 Stake Bed. Same color, including the White Wheels, same type Stake Bed, also a Straight 6 and also Restored, although mine was never finished. Once I got it looking good and road worthy, I started using it, lol. This was in the early 80's. Ran it on the road for over 9 years. One of the best trucks I ever had. Still have it as a parts truck.

Very cool. I plan to use this one, although with the fresh paint, I sort of feel bad about stepping on the running boards now. This one runs good and had the engine gone through by the previous owner. I think a 235 carb may have found its way onto the engine. This one is a 261 and to my understanding GM made a specific carb for that engine. If not that, it was set up specifically for a 261. This truck has the SM420 4 speed with a I think a 7.42:1 single speed rear axle. It spins pretty high to make 55 mph, but that's how they ran back then I guess. When I drove it last, it seems to slow down a bit much on a grade without being loaded. I need to check the timing etc to make sure its right, but I figured without a load, it should keep up on its own. I need to investigate more when I have time. Otherwise, it runs and drives like a dream...for what it is anyway. The radials seem to have helped the ride a good amount.

(Jumpsoffrock extremely jealous under his breath): Psshhhhhhh... 29,000 miles this......29,000 miles that....look at that dumb original interior, and those stupid doors not rusted to smithereens....

.....My truck had 29,000 miles before it left the factory! :sumo: Or at least that's what its condition would lead one to believe. :whine:

LOL,

Your truck rules just the way it is. The fact that you got it out and back on the road and running again is all that matters. Yours just has more "character" than mine :)

My K25 is like your truck...rusty, dented, used....maybe not as fun to look at, but a hell of a lot more fun to use as intended. :)
