I must admit, the only socket I have had to repurchase recently was a 10mm I lost working on my son's Tacoma.

I used to work on a lot of old Honda motorcycles and if you had 10, 12, 14, and 17 mm wrenches/sockets you probably covered 80% or more of the need.

It is a very useful needed socket and the wrench too, ,, last year for a Christmas Present and got one of each ,, I'm good until I lose one and for sure I will ask again.

Paying 35-40 bucks each off the tool truck, pretty much cured me of loosing sockets and wrenches.

i take apart a lot of S10s and I have found at least one in every truck. 3 were in between the inner fenders and the core support, the fan shroud is all 10mm.

One I found IN THE FRAME behind the bumper bracket. no idea how it got there.

none are any name brand though, just cheapos, i guess if you lost a mac or snap on you might be inclined to look for it

I have very limited metric tools. Been thinking it's time I at least got a full array of sockets, other than the one rack of 7 or so. Been thinking that for 20 years or more. I'll just keep going to my son's tool chest until then

Re: I found that 10mm socket you were looking for

I was working on some part of the truck a couple weeks ago, and needed to use my 1/2" twelve point socket. I have a really nice and extensive Craftsman set that I bought in about 1980, the good ones that have the stamped sizes before they invented laser etching that I don't really care for very much. Though the years as I was working at various friends places one or two of the sockets get switched by accident with some cheap-o sockets, and one or two got lost. So, anyway, in the mid 80s my 1/2" twelve point socket became a generic Japan socket, and I don't mean the good kind, I mean from the days when Japan meant bad quality. You can tell just be looking at it that it's just not very good. It slipped and did not hold onto the nut very well, and just would not get the job done. I made a wish list and went to my local flea market, and bought every missing socket I needed to fill in the set to make it 100% Craftsman again, and came back home and put them where they go. I also found one or two other tools that I didn't know I wanted until I saw them.

That socket must have been a Snap-Off.

I only carry ONE socket in my tool kit for work. A 10mm deep socket for tightening down the u-bolt on these.

With the Sears around me going out of business I have replaced my old Craftsman sockets with new ones. Plus on the last day they are 90% off, mostly already picked through. But you may find something you didnt know you needed. I picked up a 170$ scroll saw for 17$ plus tool cabinets, tractor plow and a tap/die set,

I was tuning up my '69 Camaro many years ago, and dropped the spark plug socket off the wiggle-joint. There was a hole in the frame that was probably .0001" bigger than the OD of that socket, and it fell right in. I sold that car years later with that socket still inside the frame. :waah:

I had a good laugh this weekend. My son in law was tightening a bolt on his Honda Foreman this weekend and when he opened his socket case this was the first thing I saw.

The first company to provide a "complete" metric set with two (2) 10 mm sockets will be the king. If for no other reason than it would be the one company that us knuckle busters would realize gets it.

Oh I dunno. Might be like Bic pens in my house when the whole family was here. Every time I had a call and needed to write something down there was no pen in sight. I tried tying one to a string by the phone. Nope, can't write with a string. Then I bought a big pack of Bics, put it in a drawer. They found them and I swear the very first time I went for one I opened the drawer to find the empty package. Couldn't even throw the dang package away! Things never changed. I was the "put things back guy" so they had the convenience of finding what they needed and they were the "no deposit, no return" people.

I bought my older son his first set of tools, Craftsman, with a nice tool box. I swear every time he took a tool out it never went back. And they weren't just laying around somewhere, they were gone! Ok, rant off. Was just remembering how tough life was for me putting up with that while I got called anal. I've never lost a 10mm socket... seriously!
