No progress on the truck to report but I have been cleaning my shop. I got myself a bolt bin which will be nice. Now I won't have to spend half my evenings looking for bolts and such. I also got a bunch of stuff off the floor by building a recycling/garbage center. That should greatly improve cleanup time in the future. I also found myself a computer monitor that I have hooked up as a small TV in there now. I am still doing a major deep clean at the moment so probably won't have any progress for another week or so but it sure feels good to have a clean shop.

Hey right on man! I wasn't aware that they can be flipped. No clue how though. I have my bolt bin all filled up now. Just about done with the deep clean. Just the toolbox left to sort out now.

Update on passenger side rocker. I ground down all my plug welds and the difficult to grind seam at the back edge tonight. I also started to weld the door seam the rest of the way. Couple more evenings on this side and I should be able to jump over and start the driver side rust repair.

Passenger side door jamb is complete. Just a small amount of grinding/welding to do on the bottom of the rocker and this side is completed! :metal:

Haha I have so many different trucks worth of parts going on here. I probably have almost all the colours available on these trucks. I will try to keep the progress coming somewhat steady for you.:lol: Thanks for the compliments! Just the motivation I was needing. :metal:

Ok so I have been trying to get some progress in this past week on the cab. It has been very intermittent due to the fact that I have been on call with work which has had me running around like crazy. I did manage to get half of the roof seam all welded up and started to strip the paint from the roof. Not alot of progress but it's something.

I got some good motivation today to get some more done on the cab. Went to see my brother's freshly painted cab after work. So after supper I went out and started attacking the remainder of the old paint on the roof. Didn't quite get it all off but I got a huge chunk done. Hoping to prime the passenger half of the cab in the coming weeks. Sorry for the sideways picture, not sure how to flip them from my phone.

Looks like your brothers truck is coming along. Before you know it, you’ll be there too. The paint stripping is a big chore, but looks like you’re making good progress. Keep the pictures/progress coming, Ive been enjoying following along :metal:

Thanks man! At least the roof is the only paint I have to strip. Quite happy that I bought this cab already blasted. Saved me a ton of time and mess. I'll try to keep the progress steady:metal:

Today was a good progress day! I got the rest of the roof seam welded shut as well as ground down. After that, I went back to the passenger side and did the grinding under the rocker. Im very impressed with how my work in flattening the pinch seam at the bottom of the rocker turned out. I was also able to get a preliminary fit of the drivers door and fender all done. It's not horrible, though I did have to bend the window frame out about 1/2" as it was touching the pinch weld and there was no way that I would have fit the weatherstripping in there. As far as gaps go, the upper gaps are quite large and will require addressing once I hit body work stage. The rear gaps are quite nice as are the front gaps between door and fender. Bottom gaps are obviously non exsistant at this time.;):lol:

My lower fender mounting bolt lined up nicely with where I had assumed the lower pillar would sit so that is good news. Next is both lower pillar repairs.

The bottom of that rocker looks awesome. I always hated that part hanging down lower then the bottom of the front fender. How much time do you have in removing that. Your cab looks great and a DIY guy. Just read your build through nice work! I will be checking in with you.

Thanks for the compliments. It really didn't take that long to do it. All I did was flatten the bottom of the rocker, fold over the inner rocker and thats really all there was to it. The more difficult part was the bottom of the cab corner and that wasn't overly difficult either. Just a small cut and re weld.

Last night it was time for the lower front pillar repair. I tried as much as I could to make it look like the factory piece as these things look like junk from aftermarket. As I knew would happen, I had to modify the location of the hole for the fender mount. Not quite ready for install yet but I'd say it's close.

I have the day off of work today so I'm getting stuff done! The front lower pillar is all welded in and ground down. The rear pillar is tacked in and ready to be cut apart on the outside edge and modified to have the curve that is required to weld in the rocker. Hopefully I'll be done the rear pillar by the end of the day. Forgot to take a picture of the rear pillar tacked in.

I got the lower pillar patch welded in for the most part. I had to splice the outer edge and expand it 5/16" to line up with the existing panel and make the curve to follow the rocker panel. I ended up having to cut the lip that accepts the cab corner off and run it through my dad's shrinking die to get it to have the curve as well. This is what I was unable to do on the passenger side as I did not catch this until the cab corner was welded in. It isn't nessacary but it will make my cab corner install go better. I did not have time to get the corrected lip welded back on but once I do, I will be ready for cab corner and rocker. Second side is going much quicker than the first.

I was playing around with cab corner fitment tonight and I gotta say, this side looks promising. I should not have to section it at all. So far I've got it cut down close to size and removed the vertical lip at the bottom. I tried to take some better pictures of my process for that so hopefully that will help if anyone was unsure before.

Well I should have know better than to hope that I wouldn't have to slice and dice the drivers cab corner. Still trying to live up to the name "Project Splice".:lol: I have the top fitting very nicely, just the bottom wants to fight me. After about an hour of trying to get the bottom to do what I needed it to do with no results, I decided that it would be easier to get the top all tacked in and a few other spots so I can address the "Splice" area while it is solid. Hopefully I can get it to do what I want without to many more "Splices";)

I have used predominantly Goodmark sheetmetal on my cab and have had to do some relief cutting myself. I haven't gotten to the cab corners yet but I'm sure I'll be doing the same thing you are.

My panels all came from LMC and have been sitting with the truck since my grandpa bought them. Must be close to ten years ago now. I hope your Goodmark panels fit better. Good luck to you when it comes time for the cab corners. :metal:

Just looked at my pics and realized I actually got the D/S cab corner on. It fit pretty ok except the rear stamping was a little off from the factory cab rear stamping. I guess it's ok since you won't see it with the bed on.

The cab is on the back burner now since I've been working on the M2 front suspension swap.
