Upper door hinge

Hi, quick inquiry:
I got a paint job on my truck, but unfortunately have two paint chips from the front fenders contacting the side of my doors when I open them all the way. The upper hinge is not "stopping" the door before it hits metal. I know this is wrong because my cousin's truck's hinges firmly stop the door before it goes too far.

Do I need new upper hinges, or is there a way to adjust these?

If I need new hinges (which is likely), is there a way/a tool that would allow me to changes hinges without taking the dang fenders off?

Thanks,
Christian

Re: Upper door hinge

You can adjust the position of the hinges up/down & in/out, You should first mark around all the hinges with a pencil, then remove the door from the hinges that will let you access the hinge without removing the fender, now as you marked the old hinge position to the body you can now use that as a guide & set your new or old hinges slightly further back toward the rear of the truck and tighten them up fully then re-hang the door and see how it aligns, that adjustment should leave a wider shut line between the door & fender and help them miss each other when the door opens fully. You will most lightly need to adjust the door striker after this.
That's what I would try anyway.
