Check out this ebay blazer... Is it for real?

I'm no expert but I see many things things that are not "true to the original", but I'm only knitpicking on the sellers description of said vehicle, not the vehicle itself.

A beautiful K5 but like CPNE said, there are things on it that are not original. Beautiful none the less.

How does he get the hatch and tailgate to stay open half way? Maybe that is a rare option?

That is a very pretty blazer. I'm going to have to keep a watch just to see what the bids go up to.

thats a nice rebuild. should of poainted the firewall though the same color.

Saw one nicer with a 6 banger in it at the Magic Dragon Car show a few weeks back. It was not restored but origional with 9k miles~! Guy bought it new kept in storage in a trailer not driven except for the first year he owned it same color and everything.

I had it it would slep in the garage, but I would drive it. that would last you forever if you kept it nice and washed.

I sent him an email asking what his reserve is. Not that he will answer or that I could afford it. Hate the listings that start low with a reserve, you know they want a mint for it. And you end up playing games. Give me your bottom line and I'll tell you if I bite!!!!!

Beautiful Blazer, but the rear main and tranny seals on that thing are probably all rock hard from age and non-use. If I buy something for $7,500 + (current bid) that has been "restored", I want fresh seals (and maybe a tranny rebuild). If its a real, unmolested, untouched original, old seals are acceptable. I'm just picky that way. Beautiful Blazer though.

Wow, I know you guys said that there were some non original items, but it sure would make a SWEET ctuiser.

Is carpet on the door panels correct?

I saw this truck @ the Autorama in Houston last year. It was the ONLY Blazer there, so it is not hard to figure out why it won best in class as he states in the E-bay description. (If the class was "SUV" collector, it was the only one.)

It is a very good looking Blazer, but I was not overly impressed (as in stunned). Although you can't see it in the pix, there are sags in the paint, undercoating overspray on frame, other little things that take it out of the "worth over $10k category" IMO.

Says in his ad he had not shown it for 4-5 years.

As far as I know, it is aftermarket (LMC Carries them). Usually used to cover speaker holes poorly cut by a PO prior to selling.

This truck is worth way over $10k, maybe $20k+ easy without many more details. I tell you what, you stack all the trucks in this condition up and I will give you $10K cash for each after I visit the credit union and remortgage my house.

In my opinion the slight non-stock things I see would be easy to change back.

I heard of a semi-custom 1970 blazer sell last weekend for $32K.

Fact #1 ANYTHING is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

For example....the Barrett Jackson auction had many vehicles auctioned at more than double last years' values, but that fact does not double that same cars value in the market.

If it is the same Blazer that I have seen in person, and I believe that it is (it would certainly not be the first/last time something stated in an ad was "incorrect"), I certainly wouldn't mortgage my house to pay way too much for it unless I was going to live in it. If he holds on long enough to find a buyer with more money than sense, he will eventually sell it for a high price. Hear-say and urban ledgends about "hearing" that vehicles sell for a given price (often severely inflated) don't change Fact #1.

However, there is always Fact #2:

Fact #2 A sucker is born every minute.

Which brings us to Fact #3:

Fact #3 If we were restoring these vehicles to the level of perfection that many of us strive for to make a financial profit....we definitely fall in to the Fact #2 category.

Is that spare tire carrier stock? I've never seen one, but then again, I've never looked for one (or researched it) either.
