First I want to say,Thanks to all you guys that offer up the free information on here. I am looking forward to contributing where possible. I have owned pickups previously but this is my first Jimmy/Blazer. I just picked it up in Bakersfield CA. I happened to be working here and drove past it and decided to go ahead and get a new toy. I am adding a four inch lift it had brand new 35" tires on it and were rubbing.PO had installed a sbc 400 in it that only has about 5000 miles and runs good. The only thing is it has a two barrel on it? I am also in the process of changing all ball joints, resealing the rear end, shocks and new body mounts. It will have to stay in original paint (patina)for now until I can gather up more money but that will be fine.
Thanks for the add. Tom |
Re: A new member
That looks like a very nice starting point for whatever you want to do with it. Congratulations - you're going to love your Jimmy. Over the years I've owned dozens of Chevy and GMC trucks from 64 to late models. My Blazer is my favorite of all of them.

Re: A new member
Congrats on the new truck - these things are awesome when they are running/driving right.
A lot of people like the patina look. |

looks much better already
welcome aboard |
Re: A new member
Did you put longer rubber brake lines on it? That picture of the new front springs shows the front rubber brake line being stretched to its limit, and probably preventing further droop of the suspension.

Re: A new member
I haven't put the lines on yet but I am going to. That picture was pretty much full travel frame was jacked up and no support under the axle. But I did ntice that I just did not have the lines at the time and I would like to add braided there when I do it. It will need rear brakes in the next few months so I will probably take care of it then.

Looks good! Nice jimmy! Does the 35's still rub? Mine rub with 4 inch lift done by the Po. Like the Patina!

I have a question, I am unsure on the original blue color the window sticker and SPID say dark blue the outside looks dark blue Then I see other trucks on here that are darker blue and my interior color looks lighter than other dark blue interiors. The PO did some interior painting 8 years ago, did he use the wrong color? or, are the other trucks I am seeing here painted a darker non factory color? I am attaching pics of my interior and exterior it is at the painters now so I have to figure it out, I was hoping to not paint the interior. Its not a great pic of the window sticker and I don't have one of the SPID.
Excuse the crappy motel I am out of town at work and they are cheap. |

OK, so I had thought about leaving the Jimmy Patina because I did not have the money to paint it right all the way. I decided against that as I am taking it back to Texas and the rockers had bare metal places on the where they had been rubbed. The hood had some bare metal on it and in East Texas if it is exposed it is rusted away in no time, this truck has all its original metal and i wanted to protect it better. So I went with quick and cheap outside only paint job. I think it will protect whats there until I can do a better job. It's not perfect but they actually did a good job. I am proud. I also included a little tribute to my wife who passed away earlier this year.

Re: A new member
Looks awesome, same color I'm going with.
Sorry to hear about the wife, that would be one of the toughest things I could think of going through. |
