Favorite engine/chassis degreaser?

Before I pressure wash my engine compartment and front suspension, I'd like to soak it a few days in a good degreaser. Anybody have a favorite that works better than anything else?

Easy Off oven cleaner and carb cleaner are the two I use most.

HANDS DOWN...Castrol Super Clean.......I use it on all kinds of things like my Dump trucks big tractors or anything else that needs degreasing...spray it on let it sit over night spray it again in the morning and you can wash most stuff off with just a garden hose if you power wash you can eat off it

Super clean, or purple stuff for me. I have used simple green, but it does not seem to work as well.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'll be heading out today to see which of these products I can find locally.

Simple Green isn't bad... I never break it down, full strength.

simple green is great for maintainance and general purpose cleaning. If you want to get years of caked grease and junk off, use POR marine clean. Everything will fall off like butter.

I've had great results with Greased Lightening which you can buy down at Home Desperate.

I recently tried CRC Citrus Engine Degreaser, and it wasn't worth the money. Can ran out fast, and didn't cut through much. I'd like to try a foaming one, but am leary I will run into the same results as the citrus stuff.

I've started using purple power recently. You have to use gloves, or not get it on your skin, because it will dry out your hands something awful. It works pretty well. I use it full strength most of the time. I agree that simple green isn't the best thing anymore...maybe it was good when it first came out, but the castrol super clean or purple power are much better.

straight up or did you mix and break it down?

Oil Eater is number one fallowed by Castrol Super Clean. Simple green seems to leave a residue any time I use it straight. If you have caked on grime and oil build up just get yourself dirty and scrape it all off first then soak and pressure wash.

with any of those cleaners do you just go crazy and spray everywhere or do you have to be careful where you spray?

Some oven cleaners will eat paint off so you have to be take care and use caution where you get it.

Oven cleaner will eat paint and leave aluminum looking funny too.

Re: Favorite engine/chassis degreaser?

The Super clean site says not to use it on aluminum. I have aluminum valve covers, and billet QFT carb. Is Simple Green a better product for aluminum?

Thanks
