4L60E Backwards Compatibility

Has anyone looked to see if newer 4L60E's are backwards compatible with just changing out the valve body and case plug? I have a 3LPD with shows to be a 2013/2014 style with a Blue Case Plug. My vehicle is a 2005 5CHD transmission with a Green Case Plug. I would understand PCM problems if the case was machined different and the valve body circuits were different. Looking at the valve bodies, they look to be the same besides the newer added wiring on the 3LPD along with what looks like a ISS in the case.

Thoughts?

Re: 4L60E Backwards Compatibility

They probably are.

My th700 has 4L65 parts inside for a roughly level 2/3 build.

Chevy don't change much.

Now if they would reintroduce 1973 C10's with traditional sbc's I would be happy.
