I have a 70c10 stepside that my dad passed down too me. Hes had the truck since he was 16, an I get my learners in a month and a half. He is now calling the truck mine and gave me the key to it.

So the truck has a built 355, not to sure what all it has. i no it has a big cam and a lot of other things. Ill post when i find out for sure. The truck is in decent shape to be 41 years old and has been sitting for 14 years(when i was born, he didnt have time for it)

It has a Holley 600 on it, and the jets appearently have trash in them or something because its not pumping gas into the motor. It will crank right up if it has gas poured straight into the engine.

Here are a few pictures, enjoy:)

Congrats on the heirloom, looks like a nice, solid ol' stepside. Just fix it up when time/money permits, these trucks will last forever if cared for. Wont be long til your son has it, and so on, and so on...

So I've been thinking about lowering my truck 3 or 4 inches.. What would it take to do it??

Nice start mate. whats the plans??

Re: 70c10

A three to four inch drop(nothin to low, still will work on the farm some), and hugger orange or candy apple red. If any of you guys have any other ideas, post it. I dont really no where to go with it.

Congrats..... Did you get it to run yet??

Re: 70c10

All it needs is a carburetor, it'll only crank right now when I pour gas staight into it..

Re: 70c10

My truck will now crank on its own.

70c10stepside 06-06-2011 04:13 AM

Re: 70c10

So once I get it to crank, my dad starts messing with the floats in the carb.. When we get it to run alright the battery dies.. So the battery is on charge and will get messed with tomorrow.

Re: 70c10

UPDATE:So I dont really see anything much coming to the truck. May be pulling out the block in the next few weeks. Just for some parts numbers to see what all is going to be needed for the engine rebuild. Other then that not so much. My birth day is in 3 weeks and may get some stuff to go to it, or may get a car. Not to sure, parents like to suprise me with stuff. Just if you like whats going on with the build subscribe, dont no when new stuff will come up. Also, if you would like more pics or anything just let me no.

Thanks! Im not sure about my plans yet. I may drop it about 3 or 4 inches in a few years. Its just going to be a slow work in progress till I turn 16 and get a job. I would like to get moar HP later on when I get use to driving, but for now Ill be happy when itll get on the road.lol I have respect for you though man, your working from a shell. Thats a lot of work! Good luck with your build!

Re: 70c10

Thanks man its not to bad working from a shell the only things I don't like about it fixing the POs screw ups and having the no job budget but luckily my dad has stock piled so many parts over the years so some of my major buys are taken care of already engine and transmission also building from a shell has the advantage of you getting to know the whole truck and get more experience fixing it

Nice truck man! My first vehicle was a '70 c-10 too! Good story too, can't wait to see more! I'm subscribed!
As far as fuel problems on these old trucks the fuel pickup screen in the gas tank will deteriorate over the years, fall apart, and get sucked up into fuel lines filters and even the carb and stop the flow of gas! I've had the problem TWICE! But, you said you got it running so you may not have that problem.

Re: 70c10

We are saving up for a new carb at the moment. Then if the running problems are fixed like where hoping for it'll be tires next. We think that the running issues are from the really old gas and gas getting into the oil from the carb on it now. The gas that was in it is almost out, just going to run it out into a bottle when we get more gas. Then the oil will get changed. I will have you guys some more pictures really soon. There can't be to many pictures, am I right??lol I can't wait till I can start taking the truck to shows so I can show it off:D Hopefully that won't be to far away.
