That nice ,wish i had the room for something like that .Now you need to get a couple of more trucks.

:flag: :bowtie:

gldevall 01-11-2004 01:54 PM

Looks good. Wish I had something like that. IF you don't mind me asking but about how much did it set you back?

barn9 01-11-2004 01:56 PM

Looks great man! I'm curious about the framing method though, never seen walls framed like that before, with the lumber laid in a flat manner. What is the reasoning or principle behind doing it that way?

Noticed one other thing, looks like the new shop will keep the new neighbor from looking into your pool, lol!

Russell 01-11-2004 02:39 PM

barn -- His shop is like a minature version of our storage shop, the reason why it is framed that is that the metal panelling on the side is screwed into those boards. In our shop we took spare studs and nailed them on diagonally to provide extra stength.

One thing I would definitly want if I did it again would be a laser level to get all of those bolts in line along the side...

dtlilly 01-11-2004 03:09 PM

Looks nice, and just that much less grass to mow, lol.

Blue Beard 01-11-2004 03:27 PM

Actually its more of a pole barn style structure.

The lumber was wet this time of year, which didn't help alot.

I'm getting free wood scraps from the construction sites in the area and putting uprights in the walls....giving me more to nail and construct from the inside. Its all free for the asking.

Your right about the pool being hidden.....they are putting about 7 homes up just in along the right side of the building, only 10 feet away from the side of it.

Cost with the 3500 rated concrete was approx $15500..........

Just bought the house, told the wife we couldn't move in until the shop was up. She's retiring next summer and the house will be paid for by then.

Also had to promise her a Greenhouse and restore her 67 Mustang (1 owner with 48K miles) Won't need much.

looking sweet blue beard, have you got plans has to how your going to lay it out in side, work bench, truck lift, beer fridge, girly posters(don't tell me your too old for that) lighting etc.?

Blue Beard 01-11-2004 04:05 PM

Have proposed thoughts on the layout......

Already have two wood stoves donated, friend to help with electrical, Fridge with ice maker, stereo, work benches, cycle lift..........possibly a car lift ( that's why the stronger concrete floor).........

Oh yeah, plenty of room for posters.....never to old for that....will attach one that will be going up

open for other suggestions.........

Russell, stack the sheets for each side and pre drill them. All the screws will line up that way.

Looking good there. Fridge, tv and an easy chair. You're ready.
