Lsx swap ecu/harness
i've always wanted to do a lsx swap into my 80 c10, but the ecu and wiring harness intimidate me a lot. Is it really hard to figure out or what? im new to fuel injection lol

It's not the worst thing you will tackle, but it does take time to research it and learn.
Don't want or have the time to spend? No prob. Plenty of companies making swap harnesses these days. But their time will cost you. A decent harness is about $600-700. You can do it! :metal: Check out http://www.lt1swap.com/ |

re-wiring the actual body of the truck (COMPLETE re-wire, not even stock fuse panel) from scratch is/was much worse. The actual engine wiring isn't that bad, provided you can get a good wiring diagram and can use a multi meter just incase.

not me! It all depends on what you want from your ride. if you like to tinker with it and its not a daily driver then a carb works.
For a daily driver....a hands off-start every time-no fuss-better mpg- efi system might be in order... My truck isn't totally tech deprived tho. An MSD box controls the timing using the crank/cam sensors instead of a distributor, a MAP sensor helps adjust timing for fuel economy (not hooked up yet), and I monitor the air/fuel ratios with two wide-band a/f gauges. If my truck doesn't start on the 1st hit, it does on the 2nd...... and I can live with that. :lol: |

If your buying a complete motor, it just seems backwards to me to take all of the EFI stuff off, to convert to carb just to get around some wiring. Besides you also have the additional costs of the carb-specific parts.
I think some people get scared off by the wiring, and end up spending more time and money on a carb setup...just because they are trying to avoid the wires. |

In my case....my brand new motor came with the intake, fuel rails, injectors, and sensors...but no harness, and no ecm. I sold my efi stuff for enough to pay for the new GMPP intake. I guess some people just don't get wanting to "blend" the old look and technology with the new. I do. I also agree a carb isn't for everybody or every situation.....tho neither is efi.
as for me.....I think a carb'd LSx is cool! |
