September 2013 ToTM

Since many of us are out shopping for our kids to start school, let us go with a similar theme for our September TOTM:

Shop Around!

Our subject this month will be shop trucks, real or made up. Let us see what criteria the truck will need to in order to be a nomination for this month’s contest.
  • Open to all years and models of trucks, Blazers/Jimmys, Suburbans, Tahoes/Yukons, and Panels.
  • The paint/body scheme should be one that advertises a business or shop.
  • The nominee must be a board member and the current owner of the truck.
  • The must be together and able to move on its own power.
  • The truck has to be licensed for street use.
  • If a truck was selected as a 2012 or 2013 TOTM winner then you are ineligible. If you were nominated but were not selected as a TOTM winner then you may be nominated and compete in this month's category.

To Nominate:

You or someone else may nominate the vehicle. The nominee must be a board member and the current owner of the truck. Once you decide on who you wish to nominate, just add your nomination to this thread. We will need two pictures minimum (at least one full view of the vehicle) with/for the nomination as well as the owner’s board name, and the Make/Model/Year of vehicle.

Nominees will run through August 24. The first 15 nominees that meet the criteria will participate in the contest. I will PM the nominees to get any additional data or pictures if they have not already been provided. If the owner has a preferred picture they want used in the contest, please let me know in a PM. You can PM me for an e-mail address in case anyone has problems resizing the pictures for the board. A Poll Thread will be set up by August 25 in this board area and an announcement will be posted on the Discussion Boards to notify all that voting has begun. The Poll will run thru the morning of September 1 and the official announcement of the winner will be on the afternoon of September 1. The announcement of the TOTM winner will be posted through the General Discussion Board area.

I'll nominate my Farm truck. My grandpa sold DeKalb seed corn, so I used that for inspiration on the logos.

Re: September 2013 ToTM

Well.... why not?!?
After all, I am suffering from some "post-Burb" blues. (I sold the Suburban) I am also including some info I stole from my build thread to explain the logo...

"To understand what it is all about, you've got to understand where I came from.

When I was growing up, my dad was purchasing manager for Westmoreland Coal Company. The same company that his dad and his grandpa worked for. And Chevy Blazers were the company vehicles that graced our driveways. And when the Blazers service to the company was done, my dad would typically buy the old (well kept) one for my mom to drive. SO, we had about every Blazer color produced up through the early 80's. When I was around 8 or 9 years old (1985). My dads company closed operations in southern WV sending over 500 employees to the unemployment line. (which was a huge blow to a SMALL town) Needless to say, hard times ensued and that was the last full size Blazers we owned. In fact, those times are what shaped my childhood and I had to watch my dad sacrifice a couple classic cars. Which has also inspired my book "The Ones That Got Away" http://www.theygotaway.com

So, anyway... since this Blazer is important to me and my dad. I decided to logo it as a tribute to the Mine Safety Team he was a part of when I was growing up...
