My '69 was sold new by Barton's Chevrolet in Yorba Linda, CA. They are no longer in business.

I think my 72 was sold at Stott Chevrolet in Tryon NC..(Family of Ramo Stott Nascar fame in 70's and Quain Stott, pro mod racer in the 2000's), truck has a sticker on the tailgate indicates that Stott Chevy, and the truck was bought at an estate auction in Tryon in the late 2000's according to the guy I bought from in Greeneville TN....now its back in NC, just over an hour from Tryon

My 1970 Chevrolet C/10 Longbed with a 307 V8 and a TH350 automatic transmission in white and light red was purchased Thursday, March 5th 1970 from the now defunct Kerr Chevrolet in Hastings, Nebraska by a Thompson Oil Company a Phillips 66 service station which is still in business in Hastings.

my 72 Cheyenne Super 20 was built in Fremont,Ca on Sept,71.was sold new at Leo Hoffman Chevrolet,Nelson Ave,City of Industry,Ca.it hauled a camper shell around til 1996, when it was put in a barn in Idaho and left there til a year or so ago.i spoke to the nephew of the original owner,now in his 80's,in Santa Ana,Ca.he inhertited his uncle's truck and place in Idaho.i was hoping that he had the hubcaps and some of the original paperwork but doesn't.i haven't found out much about Leo Hoffman,looks like it was sold to another dealer and some point and maybe that dealer is gone or sold again?i do have the build sheet with the info i have on it,wish i had more but no such luck.

My 72 C10 built in Fremont California and delivered to Don Chadbourne Chevrolet in Upland Ca. in October 1971. Chadborne was purchased and name change to Mountain View Chevrolet in 1972, still there today. I bought the truck from the original owner in 1998 for $1,500. When I bought it still had one original Don Chadboure Chevrolet license plate frame. It has been in the same town it's entire life.

I was very pleased to find the Warranty Card and Protector Plate from Bonecutter-Hill Chevrolet in Smith Center Kansas tucked into the original plastic bag with the owners manual in my 72 C10 when I bought it in 2014. I am 5th owner of truck with original owner selling it to his son in 1987 and he selling it to someone in Minnesota in 2011 and the Minnesota owner selling it in 2014, pic of For Sale sign, to the guy I bought it from in South Dakota.

This was before my time in Mississippi, but the 70 was sold new at a dealer called Ryan Motors in Hattiesburg, about 60 miles north of here. I believe the dealer now is just used cars and the new car stuff was bought out by another organization.

Great looking Suburban HO455! A couple of my trucks were also originally purchased in the local Portland area. My '68 Lt Green C10 was from Hamby Motors in Hillsboro (then it was Bruce Chevrolet and now Dick's Hillsboro Chevrolet). My other 68 was from Friendly Chevrolet in Lake Oswego (closed around 1980) and my '69 Maroon C20 was from Appleway Chevy in Spokane.

somebody was feeling funny that day. lol

Mine was sold at Wallace Baker Chevrolet right here in Beebe. The dealership is gone but the building is still there. It’s about 6 miles from my home. My truck protecto plate says September 1967. Wish the old dealer bumper would have been in better shape as I would have tried to save it.

I know the grandson of the dealership owner and he is looking to see if he might have a few of the old dealership stickers.

My 5/72 Flint built truck was sold by W-K Chevy which at the time was in Cole Camp MO. I have an 8/22/72 dated dealer inspection form of the truck. Seems odd to me that 3 months passed between build, and delivery, or was that the norm? W-K Chevy is now located in Sedalia MO.

According to the Protect-O-Plate and documents in the glovebox, my new truck to me was originally purchased on 10/26/1970 at Smith Chevrolet Company in Gastonia, NC where it spent its first 46 years. It spent the next 5+ years with minimal use in Oklahoma before I purchased it.

My 69 was originally sold by a dealer in Electra, TX. Ever heard of that? It's a small community in north Texas near the Red River. When the state turned Hwy 287 into a freeway, they bypassed Electra, so it's now only a shadow of its former self.

I have always loved that truck. I never knew it was sold new only about an hour and a half from me.

Thank you. I really appreciate that coming from the guy with the nicest group of trucks I’ve ever seen. We love it too! I’ve put right at 4,000 miles on it since buying it from Larry back in June going to shows, and a couple trips out of state. She’s pretty much parked for the “off season” now.

My '67 C20 is a St. Louis factory truck. I'm officially the 2nd owner after Mr. Henry Harre purchased it from Kirchhoefer Chevy/Buick in Nashville, IL for use on his farm in Okaville, IL.

Some of the photos here remind me of the days when dealerships were downtown on corner lots. There were typically 3-4 cars sitting in the small showrooms right next to sidewalks, and another 10-20 cars out in back or across the street. For the most part, the salesmen were professionals, not rookies off the street. And they didn't try to sell us extended warranties or dealer add-ons to run up the price.

Then sometime in the late 70s/early 80s, we started seeing F&I (Finance and Insurance) guys trying to sell us extra stuff after we had already agreed to a vehicle price. There was even a consulting company called "Automotive Profit Builders" to teach dealerships how to sell things like $20 worth of paint sealant for $495. I see where these guys are still around. Also, after agreeing to a vehicle price, tell your salesman that you will NOT be buying anything additional, so you don't want to hear high-pressure sales pitches from the F&I guy. And if you plan to finance through the dealer, agree on an interest rate up front.

Have to admit here that I sold cars for two dealerships while between real jobs, which is where I learned the stuff above along with more tricks of the trade. Each job lasted 3-4 weeks before I found a real job. That was typical of the turnover.

Hazard, Kentucky for my K20. Cardinal Chevrolet and Cadillac, which is still in business but in a different location. Dealer emblem on my original tailgate which is now a wall hanger.

The '69 was sold in Sacramento. The '70 was sold in Reno, then made it's way over the summit to it's forever home. ;)

My 1970 shortbox K10 was sold at Davidson Chevrolet in Rome NY for $4697 in September of 1969. The dealer still exists. She was assembled and born at the Tarrytown assembly plant on the Hudson River. I live in Rochester, NY. Truck has never left NYS and is a rare rust belt survivor! It was sold with a dealer installed snow plow on it so the farmer who bought it could plow the roads on his property. A few other cool things I have learned as I pull her apart is the heater core was date coded 1969 and made at Harrison Radiator in Buffalo NY. (GM closed it in the 90's, plant is still there) and the Rochester Monojet carb was made at Rochester Products just down the block from where I work. (Plant is still there, still automotive with some GM content, but certainly not carbs!) RP is of course famed for the Rochester Quadrajet, but there were a ton of bread and butter Monojets that rode around on sixes in the day.

My 71 K1500 was built in Fremont in April of 1971 and delivered to White Pine Motor Co in Ely, Nevada. When I acquired it 43 years later, it was being stored on a ranch in western Idaho. My research shows that I was owner number 3.

My 1970 C10 was originally purchased at Harry Woolsten Chevrolet in Paris, Texas. When I purchased it from the original buyer's son in 2012, it came with the original owner's manual, maintenance folio, protecto-plate (still attached to the warranty papers), and the GM in transit card.

The dealership still exists at the same address but is now called Paris Chevrolet. I'd really like to find an original emblem from the original dealership.

I looked for an original stamped rear bumper from Harry Woolsten but couldn't find one. I'm not sure that they ever had them made since I was given the original bumper with my truck. It is a Teddy Boy Bumper made by Cline Industries. I ended up finding a nice stamped bumper from another Texas dealership, Carlisle Chevrolet in Waxahachie which is still in existence under the same name.

Hank Graff Chevrolet, Davison Michigan.

They are still there and have branched out to a number of other locations in the lower peninsula.

We purchased all our Chevy's through there, including our '75 pickup, '80 pickup, '82 pickup, '87 pickup, all my Drive and Buy vehicles (too numerous to remember) and the '74 Chevelle that I still have.

BTW - I still had to pay the $525 destination charge for my red truck, even though it was 9 miles from the assembly plant to the dealership.
