The dealership still exists at the same address but is now called Paris Chevrolet. I'd really like to find an original emblem from the original dealership.

I looked for an original stamped rear bumper from Harry Woolsten but couldn't find one. I'm not sure that they ever had them made since I was given the original bumper with my truck. It is a Teddy Boy Bumper made by Cline Industries. I ended up finding a nice stamped bumper from another Texas dealership, Carlisle Chevrolet in Waxahachie which is still in existence under the same name.

Super nice truck !

My '71 GMC was sold by Crova Sales and Service in Romulus, MI. according to the paperwork that came with the truck. I also have the protecto-plate warranty folder and the '71 0wner/driver manual. I see Crova Sales is still in business at the same location and are listed as a GMC dealer. I'm not sure why the Inspection Sheet says Chevrolet F/S pickup. It is my GMC according to the VIN#. Apparently built in Flint. It either didn't stay up there long or the rustproofing goo saved it 'cause it's not rusty.

Because a GMC is just a Chevrolet with RPO Z88 added.

THANK YOU SIR!! .. Mapquest says it's only about 75mi from Flint to Romulus. It didn't have far to go to the dealer. The yellow "INSPECTION SHEET" is dated 4/24/71 in the Car Shipper Date at the bottom. Do you know about how long that date would be after the actual build date? How long did new trucks sit before they were shipped? I see the Mi. title was issued on 6/1/71 to the first owner.... in Flat Rock Mi.
Looks like my deck stamp from the engine appears on the ProtectoPlate. Does the VO428TBC indicate 4/28 install date?
See what happens when you answer one question... it's open season for a bunch more. Thanks in advance for your knowledge.
If you need info about South or central FL. just ask.... not that I'll remember, I'll ask my wife.

Have you checked out the "Build date project' thread? It should help answer your question.

Nice find! Did it have hubcaps when you bought it? Spid would list if they were originally chrome.

It really depends on how well the build goes; trucks that don't require a lot of repair squirt right through.

My '87 cleared the end of the final line at about 10 or 11 pm on Monday 9/29/86. I drove it off the line and directly to the shipping building myself and left the plant about 1am Tuesday morning. By 5pm that same day it was sitting at Graff Chevrolet in Davison (approx. 13 miles from Flint Assembly).

On the other hand: we've had trucks "get lost" in the back yard. Some of them we gave up looking for and built another identical truck to replace it. Lost vehicles usually turn up at model changeover, when production is halted and the repair backlog is worked down to zero.

So - somewhere in between those two extremes. Usually within 8 to 48 hours, though.

Thanks. It came with the original white painted hubcaps (not in great shape). When it was new it also had a white roof, painted white letters on the tailgate and to my understanding, due to its trim level, would have also had a white front bumper.

I have some nicer white hubcaps and a set of chrome or stainless that all would need their yellow bowties painted blue. Also have a set of full wheel covers (with blue bowties). Just haven’t decided which set I want to run. Probably a set of hubcaps since they go with the trim level better.

My 1972 Ochre and White Cheyenne LWB was purchased new in November of 1971 one county south of where I live. I bought it from the grandson of the second owner right as it rolled 100k on the odometer. I have the protect-o-plate still attached to the warranty brochure, the owner's manual, the emissions manual, and the build sheet (Atlanta truck). It has never been out of this two county area in it's 50 years of life. Looking forward to having some fun with it!

More good info, looks like it shipped 4/30/71. I'm not sure how I overlooked this and "Build date project" Threads. Both interesting and very informative.

THANKS!!

My 1972 Cheyenne Super was built in Flint April of 72, and sold by Allen Cook Chevrolet-Buick in East Texas, at 311 E. Coke Road (Texas Farm-to-Market Road 515) in Winnsboro.

From what I've found online, AC also sold ambulance conversions in the 60's.

She spent her whole life in Texas, and is a rust free survivor, just 47k on the clock, numbers matching and 90% original paint. Now she enjoys the sunshine in FL.

My 71 was sold from Santa Fe Motor Co in Santa Fe NM to the Forest Service. The dealer address was 418 Cerrillos Rd Santa Fe, NM. This dealer is no longer there. There is a Chevy dealer (different name) down the street so perhaps there is some connection to the original dealer.

The truck is a Jan 1971 Fremont build. Funny factoid: the build sheet has the destination dealer street name misspelled.

Here's a pic from when the truck was heading through Az on the way back to Ca. The second pic is a dealer fob and nameplate that 67-72chevytrucks member @jchav62 sent to me.

Re: where was your truck originally sold?

My '68 C/10 Stepside in 516 Orange was built in Fremont and originally sold by Felix Chevrolet in Downtown LA. I once saw fragments of the build sheet, but it has since been lost. I bought it from a man in Pasadena in 1973. He said the PO was the Catholic chaplain at MCB Camp Pendleton, who advertized it in the base paper for someone to take over the payments on the truck, as he had overseas orders. I'm sure it was originally intended to be a fleet truck, as it has that municipal color, no frills and had 7.00 x 17.5 tires, a factory 292 L6 and SM465 4-speed.

[For some reason, the system won't let me post pics.]

My 72 shorty K-10 was also sold to my Dad at William L Morris(Fillmore). This picture is of me in front of the truck around 1975 in Ridgecrest, CA. It's hard to make out, but it has the dealer license plate surround on it.

My 71 came from Colliau Chevrolet, South Pasadena, CA. I have no idea on my two 70's. I was told that they were local trucks. Probably both built in Fremont. My 71 was built there.

Re: where was your truck originally sold?

A ''Z'' in the VIN indicated a Fremont truck, but practically all trucks on the West Coast were from Fremont. The exception was K/5s. Blazers and Jimmys were built in Saint Louis [S] '69-'72, adding Flint [F] in '72.

My C20 was originally purchased from Maurice Fritz Chevrolet in Clear Lake South Dakota on December 7th 1966. The dealer appears to still be in business.
I know this truck has been in a least four states and I believe I'm the 4th owner

The blue truck in my build thread that I cut down, was bought new at Parsons Chevrolet 6 miles from my house. Has changed hands a couple of times but is at the same place. It was traded in at Shelton McClain Ford 1 mile up the road from Parsons in early 1974 and the man that bought it kept it till his death in 2018. It is the Ford dealer in town and is in the same place. Different owners of course. I knew the long term owner very well. He was 1 week older than my Dad and they were friends until my Dad died. I rode in the truck in Sept of 74 for the 1st time.

Cool thread, thanks for bringing it back to the top. Mr. Pharis sold his Hearne dealership in ‘69 and then opened the dealership in Sugar Land. The Hearne dealership went forward as Jentsch Chevrolet, but they lost their GM franchise in the nineties. The Jentch family sold used cars at that property until recently when they began selling ATVs and side-by-sides, which they still do today.
