Wiring Head unit question

OK, I think I have this figured out, and it should be easy, but the PO did a hack job on the wiring harness. Here is what I will be running:

- Kenwood Double DIN
- (2) 3.5" in the dash powered through the head unit

- MTX 4 channel amp
- 6.5" components powered by the amp
- 6x9s powered by the amp

- MA Audio 1 channel amp
- 10" sub

Now, the wiring should be as follows from the head unit (Kenwood's colors first) to the existing wires in the truck, correct? I'll be running new front speaker wires so I know what they will be and where they go.

- Black (ground) wire - Black wire in cab
- Red (ignition) wire - Yellow wire
- Yellow (battery) wire - Orange wire
- Blue/White stripe (Power control wire) - Remote input on amp

The orange wire is coming off of the courtesy lamp at the lower part of the dash. I thought this was hooked up straight to the battery since I can turn on the courtesy light when the truck is off so it should be good to use for memory, clock, etc., right?

Also, it's ok to cap off the gray wire, correct?

can you past pics of the harness? i thought the grey wires were for a speaker
your best bet is to run the red to the acc terminalon the fuse box and red yellow wire to the batt terminal on the fuse box

The grey wire is coming from the truck. If everything I have read is right, the yellow, black and gray are all part of a black connector for the harness. The yellow is power/running, the black is ground, and the gray is for a dimmer. The wiring harness for the truck is irrelevant because it was changed out by the PO so it's not factory. However, the front R/L are white, white/black and gray, gray/black on the Kenwood I have now.

Almost all radio have manual with wiring connections.

General speaking of the radio it self.

Red = power On/Off with key switch
Yellow= memory 12 volts all the time
Black= Ground
Blue = amp remote ON/Off are electric antenna
Grey= dash light for dimming the radio

Personally I wouldn't even worry about the factory harness, or what's left of it, and run all new wires. Especially if it's the system in your other post.

Well I ran the wires, but it's nothing permanent. I just cut and spliced the wires behind the dash. They are in pretty good shape, so I don't think I will run into any issues. The only thing I ran new was speaker wires, and obviously the remote turn on for the amp. The rest of the wiring in the truck isn't bad, but I just wanted some clarity.
