78' 8-lug disc break swap to 67'?
Looking to switch my 67' 1 ton drums to disc. I see there are some pretty hefty price tags for the 8-lug conversion kits ($900+).
I found three 1 ton pick ups (all 70's era) in the junkyard. I'm wondering if the disc breaks will bolt up seamlessly or is it better/smarter to buy the new kit?? Apologies if this is a rookie question - I'm still on the learning curve. Weekend Warrior. Thanks in advance! |

I also used the 14 bolt rear axle from the 83 so I have better rear brakes as well. Since I upgraded front and rear brakes I found a 67-72 vacuum brake booster bracket with a booster and used the 83 brake master as the master on the booster was froze up.

I'm switching my '67 C20 over using '74 C20 front suspension parts. Its good to stick to a year when doing the conversion. That way when you go to buy parts down the road you don't need to ask yourself what year is what. Like Tim67 said, you'll just have to replace everything but control arms. I was able to scroll through a few yards and find all the stuff I need, everything else I bought from the local parts store. I think I have maybe $350 in the conversion.
