Hey there this will be my first restoration of a vehicle and am pretty new to this other then im a welder by trade but the story goes my father bought this old c10 30 years ago for $50 bucks and since sat in a barn for 30 years during that time it has seen neglect and alot of animal damage until now as seen in pictures this will be a well documented post any input on the build would be very appreciated
So far the plan is to make a fleet side short bed and replace the 6 cylinder 3 on the tree with a 350 motor and 4 speed tranny :chevy:

Welcome. My advice, read a good while before you begin something you are unfamiliar with. There is a ton of great info on the forum. Btw your steering wheel looks great as it appears to not have any cracks. You seem to have a good plan just slow and steady. I’d add power steering and power brakes to your list of upgrades. I look forward to your progress.

So i built this cab cart out of some angle iron i had laying around the plan is to remove the entire floor and replace it with a one piece floor with all of the cab supports and braces . A braced my cab like this i may add additional braces but we will see yet

Re: 1971 chevy c10 restoration

When my buddy and I did mine we braved the door openings utilizing the door hinge bolts and the door latch bolts in a Y brace and then did an X inside the cab. . It worked out well. That way we had enough room to work on the floor as we replaced the complete pan as well. I wish I had some good pictures so I could share them.

So i cut the floor out a couple days ago and got the new one in i get what you mean by bracing inbetween the hinge blocks i have had the doors on and off a couple times now just to be sure nothing moved or twisted all seems well so fingers crossed i still have lots of cab work to do cab corners outer rockers and both a and b pillers complete floor seemed quite simple to install and remove and seemed like a better option then pieceing in patch pannels

Nice work. The complete floor was one of the best things I did to my truck. It turned out so much better than the patch jobs we have done on other trucks. Looking good!

I did a complete floor as well, very happy I did. Piece fits well too. I then sprayed the top and bottom of the floor with Upol raptor liner to weather/water proof the new metal

Re: 1971 chevy c10 restoration

so today i put my doors back on my cab as well as both fenders to check alignment since floor replacement all seems well still have to dial doors in perfectly but still have adjustment to dial it in.

Getting ahead of my self here but has anyone found a cheaper foam for a bench seat foam lmc has a set for 349 us dollars and shipping and duty as well as exchange rate for canada will cost a small fortune and my local auto parts store is pricy as well
