would it work

would a 73-87 chevy rearend work on a 60-66, also what does it take to upgrade the front end, can you use front end parts off of a 73-87

chevy283 08-27-2005 09:44 PM

a 73-89 rear has leaf springs and a 60-66 has coil spring im having my 65 rear redrilled to a 5 lug the front crossmember will work just drill 4 holes.

sigh...... Why must everyone insist on changing the cross-member too?
If you want front disk brakes just swap out the upper and lower control arms with the spindles attached. Then run the appropriate brake lines master cylinder and proportioning valve. It will save you hell a lot of time and headache. .

brothers and early classic sells kits to change your rearend.be aware the 71 and later are 1.5" wider.

How much does it cost to have the rear axles re-drilled to 5 lug? I've been thinking about doing that?

chevy283 08-28-2005 11:08 PM

It's costing me $80.00 for the rear axles.
