72 K10 Steering box replacement

I thought this was going to be fairly easy, but I can't find one anywhere locally.

Are there any others that are interchangeable? Seems like everything is available other than for a 72 K10 w/power steering. I found a few online, but shipping the core back would probably be about what the core fee is. My steering is pretty sloppy and I'm starting to get a little concerned driving. I'm 99.9% sure its the steering box.

Re: 72 K10 Steering box replacement

Seems all the steering boxes are either Cardone 27-7502 or Lares 959, with the Lares a bit more money, but I did find a lares for $98 with $75 core and of course shipping both ways. It said works with Steering Coupling Assembly 201. Does that mean I need that specific rag joint also?

EDIT: Just an update. I did find the Lares 959 at advanceauto and it says it comes with ragjoint bu also says "Power Gear; Steering Coupling Assembly 201 Available Separately"?? It's $185 though, compared to the rockauto one at $98, but with discount codes and no shipping and easy drop off for the core, it might be a better deal at advance. Plus, if for some reason the part is incorrect, it's easy to return

Maybe rebuild it?

I may do both. Order the replacement and rather than turn in the core for the $55, just attempt to rebuild it. I hate turning in original parts

Order it, they send it, return core in box free, get credited back

Or send yours to be rebuilt right

These guys know how to rebuild a box. It will be tight, no play

Dont get a cardone !

Before seeing this, I ordered the Lares unit. The Redhead are a bit pricey, but definitely the way to go, reading their reviews. If this Lares fails on me (which it shouldn't, with only a 1000 or so miles a year), I'll be going that route
