Its Friday.

Thank goodness

Washed the Blazer last night.

Then off to gas station to fill up for tomorrow

Does love a bit of fossil fuel.

Parked up.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psfoghfgln.jpg

Hands on, manned (well, its a woman) gas stations are rare these days.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps2iny1334.jpg

Bit of a shock.

But it only had a 1/4 tank left on the gauge.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps9kj8grlx.jpg

Ready to Rock n Roll.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psawibzqx1.jpg

Looking forward to two days at Brands Hatch race track

Funny how things go tits up at times. And then may deliver.

Spent yesterday all day at Brands Hatch with the Blazer and Kent Breakfast Meeting.

Crashed last night by 9.15 but had an on and off night...... only settling by 2.00am

Overslept this morning, and was not able to go to Day 2 of Speedfest with the guys as I would not have made it through the gates with the Blazer.

Anyway, went to only one of the two Bootfairs as I was so late.

Got a few bits, nothing special though.

One for mate Craig, I already have one...... at 50p a must have.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6iryx8gl.jpg

A good clay pipe for my collection, really cheap at £2.00

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7d2zgyrj.jpg

Also found these.

Amber and Hallmarked silver sugar spoon and I can only assume a pickle fork.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psqol0ktqn.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1fwijz6g.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psdxlswa4u.jpg

Beautiful carved rose design in the pickle poker.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psmipnebew.jpg

And bugs captured motionless for millennia

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshqlveejg.jpg

Then..............

Surprise value.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pstxislfil.jpg

I love knives and what they represent as tools and also culturally as part of a rite of passage.

Bought these two from a guy I often buy from, he keeps interesting stuff at affordable prices.

Miniature knife with tortoise shell shells, and what must have been a farmers fiend for life.
Blades worn away, seeds and lint stuck in the recesses of the handle.
I live it, and imagine it’s life story.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pskwus6lpt.jpg

So this was my minuscule haul for the day.

Scarf and Marmite lunch bag plus gecko for Sally, some coins for travels.

Not investigated it yet.

A few weeks ago I bought a box of Playmobil for 50p as there were two items in the box, unrelated, that I really wanted.

Last weekend while chatting to a seller a granny, mum and two kids came by. The seller had a Playmobil Football and rugby set on display and for sale at £3.00

The little boy was clearly interested and straight on his knees and started to sort out and set up the playing field. I pointed out to his mum that it was great to see kids still play creatively. And she replied that he loved Playmobil more than Lego.

So I mentioned that I had a box of it as I had wanted two unrelated items from it, and that he was most welcome to it.
If she wanted to collect it, I would put it out by the front door for them to collect any time.

Got home tonight and found a hand written card through the door.

Made me smile.

Glad its gone to a good home.

Got sent this by Bruce Mysterymachine today.

Could be the Blazers brother from another mother.

Thank you Bill.

I will miss it, having driven it again this morning.

Still, it has not sold, but the car I have seen, but never seen up in real life, is 300 miles from here, a non Chevy car, straight six and lazy auto box and who knows, it may still not deliver what I need.

I am a truck and commercial type guy.

How time flies.

1963 Ford Taunus Transit.

So today the one Bootfair was slow, and only half a field.

The second, larger one was filled with pink sh!t and nothing of interest at all.

Still, I managed to buy this roll of upholstery vinyl leatherette for £7.00 or $10.00 and have it planned for the Blazers possible replacement

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshueezfjm.jpg

Ford wagon was 20p or 25cents

I still remember the Pontiac LeMans wagon from a few years ago...... really liked that.

And maybe should have bought it, still, too late for regrets.

https://youtu.be/mc-6QAvT-bc

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psz7vlectu.jpg

Found mate @CraigRK a small Meccano bike and sidecar for 50p

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psfiyn1gwm.jpg

So home early.

Haul included these bits.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psclaxgmrm.jpg

Bunch of Lesley Matchbox cars and trucks, no idea why, just needed them.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pss0s0gnmi.jpg

Wagon and Mercedes Benz may be my favourites

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psk7klnfr0.jpg

Big Union Jack blanket thing is ideal for rear of Blazer or a picnic, and at £1.00 a no brainier, already washed and hung out.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pspxqcd9kb.jpg

Shell fuel Bowzer will go to St Louis in September for Dennis’ gas station.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshai7iny4.jpg

Cooler bag and six freezer bricks was £1.00 for Sally, as were three boxes of tea light candles.

So nothing much but a few bargains.

Meanwhile on UKGSER the guys are trying to figure out the possible replacement for the Blazer once it sells.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pswows8ulx.jpg

Next job, cut hedges today.

Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project

Not as unrelated as it may seem.

Remember the roll of vinyl Leatherette I bought last weekend?

Unrolled it yesterday to see just how long it is.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psluol1zht.jpg

Well, more than twice what I thought, so at £7.00 for the roll, makes it cheap.

This is double so x2

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3nkmt1za.jpg

And some more, you do the maths.......

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7fucmjt2.jpg

Adding it all up, comes to 38 foot by 4 foot or in modern measurement 11.6 meters long and 1.450 wide.

Colour is a bit deceptive at this distance and angle.

Beer cans for colour perspective.

My friend Dennis has been hampered by the amount of rain in Missouri this year, but managed at last to cast the island for his Shell gas station yesterday, and again, it started to rain just as they finished the job.

He also finished an English sign, which in the USA means Burnouts

You never know.

Just adding these two random clips.

Blazer still for sale, and more importantly, tyre kicking etc.

One clip of wasting fuel on my drive.

And this one made this morning when mate Kerry came to drop off some stuff for me.

I had to force him to drive the Blazer (NOT)

That made us chuckle, I think Sally is still getting surprised at the random attention it draws.

So we are flying into St Louis, Missouri again.

The anchor points, and only fixed part to the whole trip will be arrival and departure dates.

We will be there for Labour Day and Dennis’ Birthday

Remember the Glider bench Craig and I managed to snatch for Dennis on the second half of the trip? Along with some Shell chairs.

Busy weekend.

Worked late in London Friday.

Yesterday Sally and I cut back all the hedges, weeded the beds, trimmed shrubs making the garden look a million dollars as they say. She had brought along Bear, her dog so he was happy too.

By 4pm she left to clean up and and get the dog home.

Back by 6pm and then we headed out to meet friends for dinner at the Turkish place.

No regrets there, everything was magnificent as usual and the beers were cold.

Such an undiscovered jewel.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps54m8o7vu.jpg

Back home by 11.00pm and a rubbish night later up by 05.30 to go to a Bootfair and Breakfast Meeting in the Blazer.

Back seat drivers have their uses

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshumbnzwi.jpg

Parked up at the Bootfair, For Sale signs up, just in case, you never know,.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psmaxqm3fx.jpg

One of the sellers at the Bootfair.......

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psuo1dizxp.jpg

Seller had a small pile of Ford 105E Anglia parts for sale and some bits I did not recognise.

I have his details if anyone is interested.

PM me please.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pstmt9ckgd.jpg

Selected to only go to one Bootfair as it was the Kent Breakfast Meeting.

Included two packs of Jubilee clips at £1.00 per pack, some soft toys, Star Trek toys, razor blades and a lovely plate that cost me £2.00

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psyusupgsx.jpg

Hand puppet bird for Sally’s grand sons story telling, camel for the dog and weird blue thing for me. (Don’t ask)

Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project

Spent a total of £6.00 on the Blazer today.

Mate Craig had gone over to Dez in Essex to collect some stuff, including a Rallye wheel that had come from KevfromWales at the end of last year.

So he then delivered it when he collected a few things from my place.

The wheel and disposable tyre.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psrydxtvbc.jpg

After they left, I toook the spare from the Blazer, fitted to an alloy and the new to me Rally down to Bradford’s garage on Mickey next doors recommendation

Nice job for Prozac the little van that still can.

Separated.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psla2k5otz.jpg

Then the steel was cleaned, ground and sealed afresh, and tyre from the alloy fitted.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psucdypxfn.jpg

Came home in Prozac, washed and surface prepped the Rallye steel wheel.
Masked it all off, then pulled an old T-shirt over it and tucked it into the masking tape.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psf8gpidbf.jpg

Poundlands best gloss black.

Applied.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psgaett50i.jpg

Both sides painted black.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9v7uujsp.jpg

Centre cap fitted back.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2zxky70m.jpg

And lastly, chrome trim ring set it off.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pses4rqyrw.jpg

Back in the rear of the Blazer

Yup, I like it for £6.00

Drinking time now.

Ohhhh, and a spec sheet for the car compared to the real estate to Blazer takes up.

Basically the biggest concern to me now, is how much space it takes up, going down the side of the house in reverse.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psrruxgibh.png

Compared to the Blazer

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psia3doirh.png

Not a lot in it, longer, but narrower by 4” or 100mm

The length I can manage, only just.

Remember my street sign from the antiques mall on last years road trip??

Taken too long.

But this morning quickly sorted that out.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjbbgbxlf.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pszxohjeui.jpg

Hot humid and not nice with the added bonus of Thunder Bugs.

Look at their size vs hair on my arm.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps4y2h9rso.jpg

I was going to quickly replace the porch on the woodwork shed

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psqtkkb72w.jpg

But then Sally and Bear the dog came around and invited me for a walk.

Guess what won.

So off to the Isle of Grain.

Loads to see.

Dead

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7536mcmc.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssuaxvvef.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps4m4lthcd.jpg

BBQ later.

Fitting as its said to be the hottest day of the year.

First blood at the Bootfair goes to mate @CraigRK ‘s Coca Cola collecting.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psij4b8jha.jpg

Next up was my turn.

1.450 meter wide of upholstery fabric in blue at about 20 foot or 7 meters.

Cost........ £1.00

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7ldcn43t.jpg

Add this £1.00 to the £7.00 for last weekends 38 foot or 11 meters of brown Leatherette and some rusty steel, and you my friends have a patina package.

Anyone got a cheap upholsterer or industrial sewing machine I can use...?

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psgaetmazj.jpg

Then on to the next find........

Bought from our own RetroRides’s Simon AKA Rmad.

Dragon for 10p

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psr2jherur.jpg

A few more items, Sally found 5 books for £1.00

My other good buy, bought as part of my future planning, like the fabric and Leatherette

£2.00 for a Vance & Hines Motorbike Fishtail slip on for my next build, some road rash, but well below market price.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshtscoqvm.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psyqbxhnqt.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psaok01b8c.png

Desperately wanted this really old sign for £15.00 but only bought a small knife from the seller.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psyqbxhnqt.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pszdb2ipvc.jpg

So there you go.

Total haul.

Coffee mug 20p
Electronic piggy bank 50p (online £8.00)
4 pottery bottles 50p each.
Two small Union Jack handbags 50p and £1.00 respectively
Red Wine bottle stopper Free, found in grass

Nipple cap tassels FREE, GIVEN BY A RATHER NICE STALL HOLDER.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pswkqoxknm.jpg

And that was about it.

Nice therapy.

Bit of a weird anniversary.

A year ago, Dennis in St Louis broke and levelled ground for his replica 1940’s Shell Gas Station

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psip55apra.jpg

It was to be a self build, after hours, hobby build.

Materials came, bits purchased.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pslypoambc.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psshechvyv.jpg

Now looking like this.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pscatvtifb.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psingfexve.jpg

So yesterday I came home via a scrap and recycling yard, yup, going back to them....

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psgae5resh.jpg

When I stopped on my drive, there was something tucked behind the gate.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psgso4yeid.jpg

Initially I thought it was Harley that had been run over and slung over the gate.

Of course it was not, thankfully

Got in and when I opened it.......

I realised.

Another act of random kindness.

I had recently got a pile of stuff from @Disasterbus and offered some of it out.

The magazines were claimed by @eternaloptimist and I posted them off to him.

This parcel originated in Glasgow though, so confused me a bit.

Still, it makes me smile that this whole paying it forward concept works in such different ways for all of us.

I love real Mountain Dew and someone had taken note and randomly “repaid” the postage, not that there was ever a “repayment” plan or agreement.

Just puts it all into context.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psqp2ac2zr.jpg

My special treasures

Thank you.

Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project

Well......

@CraigRK and I are both as bad as each other.

We are always coming up with random stuff to make, create or recycle.

Getting each other excited and worked up till we make rash decisions

So this thread will hopefully OUT-RANDOM the Random stuff some of you have come to expect from us.

Feel free to add, comment, advise and most importantly donate bits if you feel you can improve what’s being created.

So yesterday I stopped at the scrapyard on the way home to look for some bits we needed for this little project.

WISH LIST:
Go kart wheels
Pram wheels.
Old or new Radio Flyer body
Galvanised bath (small)
Plastic pedal tractor engine.
Anvil

Get my drift yet??

Found a tractor. Minus motor.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7irnehsu.jpg

Got home with these.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psgae5resh.jpg

So after a mid year discussion with my boss today I stopped over at Craigs place off J9 of the M25 (Big mistake) on the way home to pick up some more bits and drop stuff off for him.

Back seat of my car, also had a roll of roofing felt for Sally’s shed roof.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psw36tynm6.jpg

Eventually got home at 7pm as the M25 had a 75 minute delay on the way back.

Unpacked the car. Fed the cat.

Laid out the basics.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psswylakxt.jpg

Added colour.

Get the idea yet??

Draw along bootfair or swapmeet, car show wagon.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psm33j3zk3.jpg

So there you go.

Let’s see what next.

Been looking for a used, dead Radio Flyer tub to use on this build.

Tonight I managed to get this Hazet tray and a bunch of tools.

Should make a nice tray.

Not as nice as @Johnnybravo has been able to snag, but happy to have a better part than the porta potty.

So last night the sun set was even better, having snagged the Hazet tray.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pspjrqgv3m.jpg

Up at 5am, thanks to Harley, then 28 miles to fetch my prize.

Took Prozac in the end as it’s just such a nice tool. Thankfully as there were some really narrow lanes to get there and the Blazer is rather wide.

Nice guy the seller.

Tools.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9ubftelp.jpg

Included was a mini tabletop Workmate with all of its parts, and a serious woodmans axe.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psjslinqcb.jpg

And mocked up.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps58gowbzi.jpg

Looks like we are in business.

Discovered this in my shed.

Really nice steering gear.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psb13ewhjy.jpg

Sally was helping me unpack the tools from the box.

Big ones.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psihgbhfuj.jpg

Little ones.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psbhsvy357.jpg

Included in the tools were quite a few SnapOn tools

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pswhfvhhiw.jpg

Eventually got it all unpacked, sorted.

Look closely at just how many tools this purchase netted.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psp6qdt3og.jpg

Eventually we got to this mock up.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps91lxh1tx.jpg

Other end.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psv2dmoxpc.jpg

When I shut the garage and walked up, I realised just how nicely the relaunched garden has come up.

Thanks to Sally.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psrhje1zzz.jpg

I guess next will be the actual build.

After this. We headed out to the Sheppeyncar meet in the Blazer

Much more fun than be allowed.
